Our team is on the ground to help,” said Kem Fleming, director of SBA’s Field Operations Center East in Atlanta. Anyone referred to SBA by FEMA who has yet to complete their application can visit the Clyde Jordan Community Center for assistance with inputting their application. There is no cost to apply and no obligation to accept a loan. If an application is denied for a homeowner or renter, SBA automatically refers the applicant back to FEMA for potential additional grant consideration. SBA’s Customer Service Representatives are also available to answer questions about the disaster loan program, check an application’s status, and assist with reconsideration requests. Riffel was one of the six Founding Fathers, a Past President and has been the Executive Director for the past 22 years. Under his leadership, the Foundation’s managed assets have grown from $250,000 to almost $7 million dollars. Also, over $4,000,000 has been passed on to the Foundation’s service area through grants, scholarships and pass through funds. Riffel stated “ The Foundation has been my life’s work, and our community has been very supportive of our efforts. It has been a wonderful experience to be a part of the Highland Area Community Foundation.” NOTE: The Highland Area Community Foundation will be accepting resumes for the Executive Director position.
