Busey Bank Security Tips

It may be a new year, but scammers and fraudsters are up to their old tricks. In fact, fraud attempts are more creative than ever, and the effects of fraud are increasingly dangerous and expensive.

At Busey, your account safety and confidentiality are a top priority. Along with relying on our strong internal controls, follow these steps to increase your organization’s security and keep your information out of the wrong hands:
  • Be Alert. Get to know the individuals behind your partners, vendors and clients—honor the relationships you’ve built and be alert to suspicious or out-of-character requests.
  • Ask questions and be suspicious. Don’t let comfort and convenience stand in the way of security.
  • Verify payment details by phone. Never initiate changes based only on email communications.
  • Stay informed. Busey Bank continues to stay at the forefront of fraud prevention, sharing what we learn with you through resources such as our blog, Money Matters.

Giving Tree Announces Business Opportunity

Greetings friends! I hope the New Year is starting out well for everyone and that 2023 turns out to be a happy and healthy year for you.
I wanted to share some exciting personal news with you. After 38 very fulfilling and rewarding years in business, I have made the decision to focus forward on the next phase of my life, transitioning into retirement. Anyone who knows anything about me, realizes that The Giving Tree is my ‘baby’ and one of my proudest accomplishments. Having created this business from scratch all those years ago with my best friend, Laurie Bielong, who has since passed away, the majority of my life has been dedicated to nurturing and growing The Giving Tree from the seedling of an idea. My heart and soul have been poured into the store for thirty eight years, and so it is not a light hearted or easy decision to step down. But for various reasons, I feel the time is right to do so, and I am looking forward to finding the perfect person to carry the torch forward and lead the store into new retail territory.

SBA Announces Flooding Assistance Available

ATLANTA – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today it will transition its Business Recovery Center in East St. Louis into a Disaster Loan Outreach Center to serve Illinois business owners, homeowners and renters impacted by the severe storm and flooding that occurred July 25-28, 2022.
“I encourage anyone who has not applied for a disaster loan to visit the center for one-on-one assistance. Our team is on the ground to help,” said Kem Fleming, director of SBA’s Field Operations Center East in Atlanta.
Anyone referred to SBA by FEMA who has yet to complete their application can visit the Clyde Jordan Community Center for assistance with inputting their application. There is no cost to apply and no obligation to accept a loan. If an application is denied for a homeowner or renter, SBA automatically refers the applicant back to FEMA for potential additional grant consideration. SBA’s Customer Service Representatives are also available to answer questions about the disaster loan program, check an application’s status, and assist with reconsideration requests.
Please see the press release for the center’s location and hours.
