Louis Latzer Library Hosts Events

Looking for a great way to begin your summer?  Join us for the Latzer County Fair Summer Reading Kickoff.  Kids, ages 12 and under, can sign up with a parent or guardian for Summer Reading.  While you are at the library, enjoy a petting zoo sponsored by the Highland F.F.A., games hosted by Highland's own Mr. Kurrle, and treats including Tropical Snos.  If this time does not work for your family, sign up for Summer Reading any time the library is open after June 2 until June 15!

 County Fair Summer Reading Kick-off
It's here at last!  Summer Reading sign up is this Friday, June 2, from 10-2:00 p.m.!!!  There will be a petting zoo, games for kids, a Scholastic Book Fair, special cool treats, and, of course, sign up for Summer Reading which offers prizes and adventures.  This is all free and open to children ages 0-12.  Teens and adults can also sign up for Summer Reading upstairs.  This will occur rain or shine, but the hope is for sunshine.

Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair begins on Tuesday, May 30 and continues through Saturday, June 3.  There are many excellent selections in the collection.  Please browse and shop.  The Book Fair hours are 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday AND Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-2:30.  Other times are available by request when Latzer Library is open.

Circle K - Highland Invites You To Assist in Supporting CMN

Meet Rosie, Our Inspiration for Our Children's Miracle Network Campaign Push in Highland, Illinois

Highland Community,

As you see in the photos, we were blessed with a visit from Rosie today.  She is the beautiful 7-month-old niece to one of our employees here in Highland.  She was born very prematurely at just 21 weeks and is a true princess warrior.  She has overcome all obstacles that has tried to keep her from being a blessing to her mom and dad with the help of Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

So, you see- this campaign meant more to us in Highland.  Rosie is part of the extended family here at Circle K in Highland.

We did get a heads up that they were coming to see us today, but they had no idea what we had in store for them.  Upon arrival, we presented a beautiful bouquet of flowers to Mom, a teddy bear for Rosie, CMN t-shirts for Mom & Dad and a box of goodies for the whole family including two Circle K fuel discount cards to offset the cost of gas back and forth to Children's Hospital.  Additionally, we provided them with a small and humble Circle K gift card for $25 to help out with a tank of gas.

Our team has a different perspective on our CMN balloon campaign, we saw a miracle happen and we want to see it again when another family needs assistance.

We know that our efforts are helping Rosie and other local families that desperately need the help of Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

Currently at the close of yesterday's business, we have raised $3541.77 and we are pushing hard until May 25th to reach our stretch goal.  We just wanted to take a moment to let you know that the heart of the community is behind all of the children/families in need.  We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of something much bigger.

Many Thanks,

Lisa & Our Entire Circle K Highland Team
