New Year's Celebration/ Minute to Win It! style
Thursday, January 4, 2024 6:00-7:00 p.m.
at Jennie Latzer Kaeser Children's Library
Kids, bring your family and be ready to have fun! (Recommended ages 3-99)
We will be playing several different Minute to Win It games with a New Year's theme. Root beer and 7Up floats will be served following the event.
We hope to see you there!!!!
Thursday, January 11.....Relax and Color With Us
Any time between 4-8 p.m., please come to the Jennie Latzer Children's Library and relax while you color. Color books, color sheets, and crayons will be available. Stay a few minutes or spend an hour or two, whatever works for your family.
Saturday, January 13....Wintertime Crafty Saturday
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Kids, ages 2-12, will have an opportunity to contribute a paper quilt square to our community quilt, create an origami swan, and make snowflake dough ornaments.
Louis Latzer Memorial Library will be offering free adult swing dance lessons!
Our instructors are Kathy Elliott and Gary Schneider. The first lesson is on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Sign up is strongly encouraged by calling 618-654-5066. Grab a partner and come learn something new and exciting in 2024! If you don't have a partner, please sign up anyway! The other two sessions will be the following consecutive Thursdays, February 1 and February 8, at 6:30 p.m. (These sessions also require advanced sign up.) There is a limit of 12 couples per session.

HIGHLAND, Ill.—The Prairie Heart Foundation is proud to host Powered by Prairie, a walk and health education event, on Feb. 16, 5-7:30 p.m., at Korte Recreation Center, 11 Nagel Dr., Highland.

NewBiz Back to Business Grant Funding Available
Back to Business New Biz Grant
Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced $25 million in available grant funding through the Back to Business (B2B) NewBiz program. Following state recovery programming for businesses totaling $1.5 billion, the latest American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)-funded opportunity is designed to provide additional support for businesses in hard-hit sectors who launched during the pandemic. Businesses that launched in 2020 or 2021 and remain in operation have faced significant impacts during the pandemic, but they have not been eligible for other federal or state relief programming since they were not operational prior to the pandemic. To provide hands-on support and raise awareness about the program, the State has mobilized a network of nearly 100 community navigators across Illinois. Applicants are encouraged to visit b2bnewbiz.com to learn more and apply. Application deadline January 11, 2024.

ONE on WON Program Announced!
ONE on WON
We are excited to kick off our ONE on WON program! This program was created to culminate relationships with other like-minded businesspeople or members from groups or organizations that may find it difficult or intimidating in a group setting. Jeff Weinacht from Pulse Personal Training will be collecting a list of business professionals who are interested in getting together one on one to meet and get to know each other on a personal and professional level. The idea behind the meetings is not to “sell” each other’s products or services, but simply to network in an atmosphere that allows for conversations with minimal distractions, as well as an opportunity to get to know one another. The Highland Community is growing quickly and has a wide range of new businesses that have opened in the last year. This is a great opportunity to build relationships with people who can share experiences and work together as opportunities arise! While the Highland Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours is our greatest opportunity to network on a regular basis, ONE on WON is a way for individuals to network in a more intimate setting and build meaningful, professional relationships!
