Hello all!
I’m Taylor Sheeley and I’m thrilled to be joining you as the new Assistant Director at the Chamber! I’m looking forward to meeting you all and putting together some business names with the faces behind all the magic.
A little about me – I was born and raised here in Highland, the daughter of Byron & Karen Barker. My husband and I are the owners of Fathom Brazilian Jiu Jitsu just off the square, and I enjoy spending my evenings there teaching our kids program and women’s self-defense classes. I’ll be bringing over a decade of small-business management and marketing to my position here at the chamber, along with my personal experiences of entrepreneurship.
I’m very passionate about the wonderful community we have here in Highland, and firmly believe that when local business is thriving and growing, the community will flourish as well.  I’m eager to work with you all to help meet your needs and watch Highland prosper
for many years to come!

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland Sponsors First Aid, Cooling and Health Education Station at the 2024 Madison County Fair

HIGHLAND, Ill. — HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland is once again partnering with the Madison County Fair to provide a first aid, cooling and health education station at this year’s event.

St. Joseph’s Hospital will have trained health professionals on site at the fairgrounds
Tuesday, July 23 through Friday, July 26 from 3 to 7 p.m. each day,
Saturday, July 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and
Sunday, July 28 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Personnel will be available to treat minor injuries, overheating and other medical issues. The station will be located in the HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Pavilion located between the Exhibition Hall and the Food and Beverage Pavilion.

During the first aid station’s hours, fairgoers can also visit the pavilion to cool off from the summer’s heat. The station will be stocked with fans, water, ice packs and popsicles for children. Health representatives from St. Joseph’s and other health care partners will be sharing education and information about hospital services at the station throughout the week.

Additionally, on Friday, July 26 and Saturday July 27, representatives from Chestnut Health Systems and Gateway Foundation will be providing NARCAN education and handouts, drug/alcohol treatment information and family resources.

While inside the Hospital Pavilion, fairgoers can receive giveaways, as well as enter a drawing to win a $50 Highland Chamber gift certificate.

HSHS Announces Southern Illinois Market Leaders

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) recently conducted a blessing ceremony to commission four leaders to new roles within their organization.

These leaders serve in HSHS ministries in the Southern Illinois Market, which includes St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

The leaders include:

• Michael Janis, who has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Southern Illinois Market. Janis most recently served as the HSHS System Director of Radiology, as well as serving in past executive leadership roles at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
• Regina Peterson, who has been promoted to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the Southern Illinois Market. Peterson expanded her role from CNO of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to now leading and coordinating nursing operations across the Southern Illinois Market.
• Teresa Cornelius, who has been promoted to the Chief Administrative Officer of HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. Cornelius most recently served as CNO and COO of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, and previously as the CNO at HSHS Holy Family  Hospital.
• Amanda Ennen, who has been named the Chief Administrative Officer of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. Ennen has been promoted from her role serving as CNO of St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese.

Chris Klay, President and CEO of the HSHS Southern Illinois Market, shared, “These and other leaders in the HSHS Southern Illinois Market will focus on our strategic and operational priorities to grow programs and services for our patients, and invest in our ministries. Around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, a chronic noncommunicable disease of the brain that affects all ages.

It's almost Back to School time!  Be prepared to laugh and have a great time listening to a rare form of entertainment with Ventriloquist DC Mickan with a large cast of loveable and unique characters! (There are less than 400 ventriloquists in the world.)  Please plan to attend this fun evening.  
This is a super way to kick off the new school year.

We are making a few adjustments to our hours for the summer effective Tuesday 6/25.
Our hours Tuesday-Thursday will now be 11am-5pm.
Friday-Sunday we will be closing at 8pm.
Toddler Time will be weekly on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9am-10:30am.
We want to continue to provide the best service possible for our community and these changes are unfortunately necessary to do so. Thank you for your understanding.

Below are the July & August schedules as well as the information for the upcoming Sunday, June 30th Mini Gratitude Retreat.  There is also a mini retreat scheduled for Sunday, August 11th from 7:00-8:30 pm. These are all available to book on the booking website (momyoga - linked below).  
  
I have changed the class membership a little to make it more streamlined and simple.  I have eliminated the weekly class series option and only have class passes now - which are good for 2 months (you pick and choose the classes you wish to attend during that 2 months).  Of course, you can continue to sign up for just the one class series (same class each week) for the 2 month time period utilizing these class passes.  
There will be 6,7, 8, 9 and 10 class passes available.  If you need assistance with signing up for classes, please reach out.

Stewards of Hope International of Highland 
needs your help in finding a new home!
The group is needing to move 
out of their current location and is looking for something in the Highland area that would fit their needs for storing, packaging and shipping items donated to them.
The ideal location would have the following:
 Minimum of 600ft
  Exterior door at least 6ft wide
 Overhead door with an 8ft clearance
 Temperature controlled for food storage
  24/7 Access
Capability to back up a truck to the access door to load and
unload the boxes we send.
Optimally, the space would have access to a platform for loading pallets onto a commercial truck for shipment to FL
(helpful but not a deal breaker)
