HSHS Announces Southern Illinois Market Leaders

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) recently conducted a blessing ceremony to commission four leaders to new roles within their organization.

These leaders serve in HSHS ministries in the Southern Illinois Market, which includes St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

The leaders include:

• Michael Janis, who has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Southern Illinois Market. Janis most recently served as the HSHS System Director of Radiology, as well as serving in past executive leadership roles at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
• Regina Peterson, who has been promoted to Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the Southern Illinois Market. Peterson expanded her role from CNO of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to now leading and coordinating nursing operations across the Southern Illinois Market.
• Teresa Cornelius, who has been promoted to the Chief Administrative Officer of HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. Cornelius most recently served as CNO and COO of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, and previously as the CNO at HSHS Holy Family  Hospital.
• Amanda Ennen, who has been named the Chief Administrative Officer of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. Ennen has been promoted from her role serving as CNO of St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese.

Chris Klay, President and CEO of the HSHS Southern Illinois Market, shared, “These and other leaders in the HSHS Southern Illinois Market will focus on our strategic and operational priorities to grow programs and services for our patients, and invest in our ministries. Their efforts along with those of all our colleagues and medical providers will position us for future growth and development, ensuring we carry our mission forward.”

Events for Kids at Latzer Library
 

Tuesday, August 6, 2024 (6:00 p.m.)

It's our Back to School Night!  Ventriloquist Doug Mickan will be performing for all students and their families at 6:00 p.m.  in the Latzer Library Auditorium. This is a super way to kick off the new school year. This program is designed for ages 2-12 (Free, open to the public, and must be accompanied by an adult).

In addition, Madison County CAREE will be visiting Latzer with the program, "Ready for Harvest" in the Children's Library as you enter. Celebrate Back to School with us!  All ages welcome.  Plan to enjoy both activities!

 

Wednesday, August 7, 2024 (10 a.m.)

Thinking about trying a new adventure this fall?  Try Karate! Mr. Rakers will be at Latzer Library Auditorium at 10 a.m. to introduce children (ages 4-12) to the art of karate. This will be an interactive event that is action packed. The program will last around 45 minutes.

EvUCC Peppermint Preschool – Registration is Open

Peppermint Preschool, located at EvUCC Church at 2520 Poplar Street in Highland, is currently accepting registration information for families seeking learning opportunities for their pre-K children. The Peppermint Preschool program immerses children in a fun and enriching learning environment. The students' daily/weekly schedule is tailored according to their age. The classes are held Monday through Friday during the regular calendar school year. All classes begin at 8:30 and end between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m.

The goal is to provide a loving learning environment for three—and four-year-old children. The program focuses on social and emotional development, gross and fine motor development, visual and auditory perceptual development, and cognitive development.

The Peppermint Preschool program is licensed by the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services. The facility is equipped with a security system and cameras. All staff are CRP and First Aid trained and professionally background checked.

Heart and Soul Yoga with Sharon

Please note there are no classes August 5 - 9 and August 24.  

There is a mini retreat scheduled for Sunday, August 11 from 7:00-8:30 pm.  Just in time to help you find some release and relaxation before the new school year begins!  Give yourself the gift of finding time for yourself by signing up for the mini yoga retreat!  This is available to book on the booking website (momyoga - linked below).  

  I have changed the class membership a little to make it more streamlined and simple.  I have eliminated the weekly class series option and only have class passes now - which are good for 2 months (you pick and choose the classes you wish to attend during that 2 months).  Of course, you can continue to sign up for just the one class series (same class each week) for the 2 month time period utilizing these class passes.  
There will be 6,7, 8, 9 and 10 class passes available.  If you need assistance with signing up for classes, please reach out.

Stewards of Hope International of Highland 
needs your help in finding a new home!
The group is needing to move 
out of their current location and is looking for something in the Highland area that would fit their needs for storing, packaging and shipping items donated to them.
The ideal location would have the following:
 Minimum of 600ft
  Exterior door at least 6ft wide
 Overhead door with an 8ft clearance
 Temperature controlled for food storage
  24/7 Access
Capability to back up a truck to the access door to load and
unload the boxes we send.
Optimally, the space would have access to a platform for loading pallets onto a commercial truck for shipment to FL
(helpful but not a deal breaker)
