About Shoshone Pet Rescue
Shoshone Pet Rescue (SPR) is a non-profit organization that has its roots in the early 1990's with the efforts of Karin Clark-Reed who began adopting dogs out of the pound so they would not be euthanized. In 1994 Betsy Beresford began fostering dogs from the Kootenai Humane Society for Second Chance Pet Rescue. In the years that SPR has operated in Shoshone County, Idaho, we have successfully placed over 1400 pets into permanent, loving homes.
The primary objectives of the Shoshone Pet Rescue are to build a "no-kill" animal shelter, to aid in the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and abandoned animals, to provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection in the area served by SPR, to seek to return lost animals to their owners, to seek suitable homes for animals without homes and to provide euthanasia when it is deemed as a humane means to end an animals suffering.
Our mission is to promote the welfare of companion animals in our community by reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs, by providing education and resources to prevent abandonment and neglect of pets, and by sheltering and finding forever homes for abandoned pets.
