About ServiceMaster by Lewellen's
Lewellen's started life in 1972 as a carpet installation company. Founders Charles and Dianna Lewellen added carpet cleaning to the business a few years later in response to requests from their customers. Their first carpet cleaning machine was a portable soap-and-water steam cleaner. In the early 1980s, Lewellen's invested in a more powerful truck-mounted cleaning system that was not only faster but also cleaned better while using less detergent, leaving behind less soap residue.
This technology wasn't the only growth Lewellen's experienced in the 1980s. We expanded into fire and water restoration, commercial janitorial and housekeeping services, and residential cleaning. In the '90s, Lewellen's added a construction crew to restore homes and businesses damaged by fire and water.
As our services grew, so did involvement by the family in the business. Charles and Dianna's daughter, Christina, went to work for the business when she was 12, and started keeping books for the burgeoning enterprise at the age of 15. Chris's high school sweetheart, Pat Foglesong, became a part-time employee at age 17 and a full-timer at 21. Chris and Pat married and later purchased Lewellen's from her parents, keeping this family-owned business in the family.
