Chamber Board meeting schedule

The current Chamber Board has altered its monthly meeting schedule, and now will be meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8am.  These meetings will continue to be held in the Chamber building.

Consequently, the next Chamber Board of Directors meeting will be held Tuesday, June 11th at 8am.  Any member is welcome to attend.

The five member Board now includes Carol Glenn with Centennial Real Estate, Heather Lindh with RE/Max Aspen Leaf Realty, and the three new Board members Brenda Marine from B & B Shipping and More, Travis Colbert from City on a Hill Coffee & Espresso, and Amy Tait with Climax Molybdenum.

We look forward to a productive year ahead, and if any member has questions or concerns they would like raised at a Board meeting, please contact a Board member or the Chamber Director.

Visitor Center to be open 7 Days a Week

In order to provide Chamber member information to as many people as we can, the Visitor Center will be expanding its days and hours of operation beginning next week.  With the number of open hours increasing by 15 hours per week, we expect between 3000 and 4000 additional people will view all of the member marketing materials displayed and available between now and the end of September.

New hours of operation are:  Monday-Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We are making sure that current stocks of brochures and information are sufficient for this additional influx of visitors, but if you would like to drop by the Chamber with additional materials, please feel free.  We will also contact you if we are running low on your marketing materials.

Thank you again to Greg Labbe for the work he has done to expand these Visitor Center hours!

Director's Corner

Hello Members,
The busy summer season has certainly arrived in Leadville.  There is no doubt that the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center is seeing more people walk through the door this year than during this same period of time last year.  Hopefully this bodes well for all of our member businesses and for the general economic outlook for Lake County.  In an effort to get Chamber member information in front of even more people, the Visitor Center will be moving to a seven day a week schedule that you can read more about below.

As always, the summer will be filled with a variety of events and activities.  We are in the process of updating the Chamber website to reflect a current calendar so that you can stay on top of all of the great things going on in Leadville and Lake County during this time of year.  A few of the upcoming events to keep in mind are the next Chamber Business After Hours at the Healy House and Dexter Cabin Museum on June 27th and the 4th of July Parade on (surprise!) July 4th.

Please keep an eye out for Chamber communications during this busy time.  We are progressing through our audit of member contact information for accuracy and current info, so if you know someone who is a Chamber member and has not been receiving email or mail correspondence from us, please have them contact the Chamber and update anything that is necessary.

Thank you and enjoy this great weather!
Jeff McGuinness

June B.A.H. at the Healy House!

The next Chamber Business After Hours will be Thursday, June 27th at 5:30pm.  It will be hosted by the Healy House and Dexter Cabin, and this year's attendees will be able to tour the Dexter Cabin during the B.A.H.

There will be guests including folks from History Colorado and State Representative Millie Hamner, representing Lake County at the state level.  Please join us for appetizers and beverages on the lawn and a great opportunity to network with your fellow Chamber members.

With the busy season upon us, we are also planning on a brochure and information swap at this B.A.H. so that Chamber members can exchange marketing materials with one another to provide additional exposure and ensure that your marketing dollars are working hard for you.

If you know you will be attending, please RSVP by calling the Chamber at 486-3900.  Keep an eye out for more information about this Business After Hours as we get closer.

What is your Chamber doing for YOU?

In our continuing effort to expose our Chamber membership to as many visitors as possible, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a group of 24 volunteers from the Julesburg Welcome Center (just across the border from Nebraska on I-76) this last week, and introduced them to many of the great things that Leadville and Lake County has to offer.

The Julesburg Welcome Center sees around 250,000 visitors (Wow!!) per year, so we were grateful to have the opportunity to show these volunteers why they should continue to direct as many as these folks as possible up our way.  The volunteers took in some of our museums, scenery, and other attractions, and provided very positive feedback.

Through efforts like these, the Chamber hopes to keep the doors to our member businesses swinging open, and their cash registers busy.
