Legion Mural Completed

The American Legion Post 90 Women's Auxiliary Choir mural has been completed on the south wall of the American Legion. Thank you to the American Legion Post 90!

Lion Arrival

4 of the 13 lions arrived on Tuesday June 13th, the remaining 9 arrived on Saturday June 17th with the help of Duane Low, Joel Sims and Dustin Bishop to unload them into the City garage.  The 4 lions were transferred to the empty lot at the American Legion, where the mural was coming to life.  3 of the lions have been completed and are currently at Mel's Body Shop getting a clear coat.  The remaining lions have been delivered to Gaslight Art Colony for painting and Jarod Green has picked up the lion he will be painting and delivered it to Marshall Bowl. The goal is to have each lion painted and sealed and in its final resting place before Autumn Fest. Below is a picture of the 3 finished lions before they were sealed. The letter jacket lion will be placed at Marshall High School and was sponsored by the Yargus Family.  The middle lion will be placed at MJ Synder Iron Works and sponsored by MJ Synder Ironworks.  The Uncle Sam lion will be placed at the American Legion Post #90 and sponsored by the American Legion Post #90. Be on the lookout on the Chambers Facebook page for pictures as lions get completed.

From the Director:

Happy Friday and Happy 4th of July!

June was an extremely busy month and I would be lying if I didn't say I was looking forward to slowing it down a little bit. I would like to take a moment and thank several people for their help on the Walldog Project last month. First the American Legion Post 90 went above and beyond to make the project come to life, from mortaring the mural site, opening the bathrooms for the artists and for taking the time to honor such an important part of Marshall history. Mary Ann Stepp, Laura Tingley, Rusty Pendleton, Don Bowen, Jay Scamihorn (for organizing the 5k/2mile walk) and my husband Dustin Bishop. Without each of you this project wouldn't have moved as seamlessly as it did. I would also like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Joel Sims, Duane Low and Cory Sheehy at the City of Marshall for the trash cans, barricades and meeting after work hours to unload the lions and so much more. We are in the process of ordering maps with the mural locations including the lions as well.
We now have post cards featuring the murals available at City Hall and the Chamber office! Pick them up while supplies last.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July.  The Chamber office will be closed July 17-21, we will reopen on July 24th, we will be on vacation with no access to phone or email.

Lastly, I hope everyone has their calendars set for August 11th- Marshall's Night Out on the National Road. Lots of great and exciting things to come this year!
