Exchange “Food for Fines” at Marshall Public Library

If you owe a fine for late materials at Marshall Public Library – no matter how large or small – you can exchange it for a few cans of food for the local food bank from November 1 through November 30th.  “Food for Fines” gives anyone owing the library a fine for late books, DVDs, magazines, CDs, or audio tapes the opportunity to have the charges erased from their library card record and to have their library borrowing privileges restored.  If any “lost” library materials are returned, the materials charges will be converted to overdue fines which may also be waived by donating food items.

Please bring in at least one non-perishable food item for every $5.00 in fines owed and we will donate the food to the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank.  It’s a great way to help the community, the library, and yourself!  For more information, call the library at 217/826-2535.  Marshall Public Library is located at 612 Archer Avenue in Marshall.

From the Directors Desk:

And all of a sudden it’s November — the month of Thanksgiving and the month before Christmas. Lets encourage those around us to find ways to count our blessings and give thanks over the next 30 days. Be sure to write down things we’re thankful for, write thank-you notes to people who have helped us, and thank people throughout the day, every day, for the entire month.
Here at the Chamber, we are thankful for a wonderful community! With that said, Hollydays is right around the corner, bingo tickets are now on sale and this years coverall is worth $1000 cash. Be sure to get your tickets, because only 200 will be sold, tickets are available at Edward Jones and the Chamber office. There will be no saved tables, its first come first serve. New this year is a Christmas tree raffle, the tree will be fully decorated and tickets are $5 each. The winner gets the entire tree and decor, a photo of the decorated tree will be on Facebook in a couple of weeks.
December 2nd will be a fun day for all ages from morning to night, so be sure to mark your calendar and explor our great community and the events going on that day!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Jennifer Bishop
