Serve the Valley

United Way of the Wabash Valley has partnered with Maryland Community Church to create a new volunteering event, Serve the Valley, to rally hundreds of volunteers throughout the community on July 27th and 28th. This partnership was created to work to mobilize the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact in the place we call home. This event is replacing the United Way’s annual Day of Action.

From the Directors Desk:

What a busy June, and looking forward to July!

In May, we told you about our first intern, Connor York, she has been busy working on several documents for us, but she also is updating our website as well! She has spent countless hours on our Pintrest account, now every mural, every lion and soon to be Worlds Largest Gavel is on Pintrest. We will be working on adding more content to our Pintrest page in the coming weeks. Thank you Connor for your hard work.

In September Guinness World Records will be in town to measure several items in Casey and they will make there way to Marshall to measure the Gavel.

You will notice several improvements happening around town.  The downtown parking spots have been repainted, new plants and mulch around the tress, the trash cans have been painted, BennettSchroeder & Wieck received a facade facelift, Happy China is being updated and the old Baldomero photography is up next to be painted.

I have also spoken with Rudy at the Family Restaurant and he would like to update the inside of his building, several organizations have come forward with donations, but if you would like ot make a donation, go talk to Rudy! The Serve the Valley volunteers hope to get the larger dining room updated on July 27th. So be sure to sign up to volunteer, other projects around teh community include the Food and Clothing Bank (painting the exterior and remodeling teh bathrooms) as well as painting the little league dugouts.

Lastly, in 2019 Clark County will be celebrating its 200th birthday. The Clark County Development Organization will be hosting a meeting on July 26th at 8:30am at Miss Barlow's in Martinsville to anyone that is interested in hearing/sharing ideas for the celebration.
Happy 4th of July!
