ECIDC

East Central Illinois Development Corporation (ECIDC) is one of the longest-running regional economic development groups in the state of Illinois, made up of 11 counties. Community, business, and education leaders from throughout the area formed ECIDC to encourage a collaborative and planned effort to promote East Central Illinois, spur economic growth, and address regional concerns which impact jobs and the economy.
ECIDC economic development strategy focuses on establishing a regional identity as a foundation on which to promote the region, state-wide and nationally, with the goal of supporting and attracting businesses, industry and tourism in the region, while providing educational opportunities to membership, governmental units, and residents.

Marshall is a member of this great organization, you should expect to see big things from this group in the coming years!

iDream/iCreate

The iDREAM Project starts in Kindergarten and gets students to dream big! In 2nd and 4th grade students are encourage to expand on their dreams list from 2 ideas in Kindergarten to 10 in 2nd grade to 25 in 4th Grade.  In-school activities make it fun to learn about the importance of dreaming and with community leaders doing the activities students are introduced to a community support network at a young age. All activities have a take home worksheet for parents and guardians to get involved with dreaming/goal setting.
Beginning in 6th grade students are introduced to tools to help put their ideas into action. At the 6th grade level students expand their list to 50 ideas and then are encouraged to journal about them all school year long. In 8th grade students expand their list of ideas once again from 50 to 100.  The 10th grade activity focuses on the SMART Goal tool. Community leaders encourage the students to pick a few ideas from their list and write SMART Goals for the dreams. Finally during their senior year students are exposed to another tool for dreaming called the Vision Board. Seniors are encouraged to take some ideas from their list and create a “work of art”…their own vision board!

The iCREATE Project starts in 1st Grade and gets students familiar with the big word entrepreneurship!
