Did you sign up for a Special Interest Group?? Are you interested in being a Group Starter?
We need some Group Starters for the Glenwood Lakes Area Newcomers Specific Interest Groups. Group starters will get the specific group together the first time. Emails and phone numbers will be given to the Group Starter. All you have to do is plan the date, time and place for that first get together. Then as a group you will plan when you want to meet again.
Remember if you've met someone new, remind them to contact Kay at the Welcome Center to set up a visit if they haven't already had one. We want to do a personal visit with our area Newcomers as well as help them get involved in the community.

Postcards Now Available at the Glenwood Lakes Area Welcome Center & Chamber The Glenwood Lakes Area Welcome Center worked with Jim Palmer, Palmer Creations to create some NEW postcards promoting Glenwood.
At this time these postcards are available at the Chamber & Welcome Center Building at 7 First Street NW, Glenwood and sell for .50 each. Pope County Farmer's Market Open on Saturday's Only September & October
The Pope County Farmers's Market, is open Saturday mornings ONLY September & October from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

The Historic Terrace Mill Bluegrass Festival will be held on Sunday, September 29, featuring the High 48s and Cimarron. Gates open at 11:00 a.m.; a free guitar workshop will be at 12 p.m. and music starts at 1 p.m. Food, local vendors and a farmers market will also be available.
Terrace is located 13 miles south of Glenwood on Highway 104.
Cost: Adults: $10 Students: $5 5 & Under: FREE
Newcomers "Progressive Games" Night If you are new to the area within the last five years, or still feel new, you are invited to join us for a "Progressive Games" Night in the backroom of the Minnewaska House at 6:30 p.m. The Minnewaska House is located at 24895 State Highway 28, Glenwood.
Feel free to come and go as you wish. This is a free event for "Newcomers" of all ages. Some snacks and water will be provided. Other food and drinks can be ordered at your own expense. Note: No food orders after 9:00 p.m.
Bring a game(s) you think might be fun for a group of kids or adults, some games will be provided. If you bring games, please put your name on it.
We will rotate games every 1/2 hour if you would like to move on to a new game you can or your can stay and keep playing the one you like.

Those that have Central Minnesota Credit Union will be ok to use up to one year from the date issued.
Save the Date! Community Trick or Treat Halloween Night, October 31st The Glenwood Area Community Trick or Treat will be held on Thursday, October 31st, Halloween Night from 4:00-6:00 p.m. located at Fright Nights LLC on the north side of Central Square. This event is co-sponsored by the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber & Welcome Center, Fright Nights LLC, area businesses and organizations. This is a lights on, non-scary, walk through the haunted house.

Erickson's Petting Zoo "Fall Family Fun"
Erickson’s Petting Zoo to Open for “Fall Family Fun” – Fall is a great time to stop on out to Erickson’s Petting Zoo of Osakis.
All of the animals and birds are always a hit, no matter what time of the year you visit . Enjoy a tractor & hay ride, horse and wagon rides, pick your own pumpkins, pony rides and pony Hops and the seven-acre corn maze. While in the maze look for the hidden corn tower.
Fall Family fun starts Saturday, September 21, at 10:00 a.m. The season runs for six weekends until October 27. The farm is also open MEA Days October 17 &18.
Saturdays and MEA Days, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays are from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $8.50 per person 2-5 year olds, $6.50.
Pre-picked pumpkins, squash, gourds and corn shocks available for sale.
City Hall has moved. Their new location will be at 100 17th Avenue N W. The drop box for city utility payments WILL REMAIN at 137 East Minnesota Avenue. Pope County Mobile Food Drop will be held Tuesday, October 8th from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Glenwood United Parish, 10 17th Avenue NW, Glenwood.
Distribution of food begins at 12 p.m. but registration begins at 11:00 a.m. At registration you receive a number that coordinates with your spot in line. The Mobile Food Drop is a monthly food distribution event.
Anyone who eats and lives in Pope County is able to utilize this program. Please bring boxes to carry your food. This monthly event is made possible by the United Way of Pope and Douglas Counties.
Upcoming food drop date is November 12. Second Rachel's Challenge
BE KIND group invites public to second Rachel’s Challenge on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. (program begins at 9 a.m.) in the Minnewaska Area High School gym. Sign-up sheets will be distributed throughout Pope County asking for your promise to attend. If you have questions, please call 634-3909 for more information or to reserve your spot.

Glenwood Public Library to Host and Author's Visit Glenwood Public Library will be hosting an author's visit at the library Saturday, October 5, at 10 a.m. Sister Secrets is truly an incredible story of a Minnesota family full of life and tragedy. Mathew Valan is the author and brother of the sisters he loved and lost. In the book he explores his family dynamics and mental illness that resulted in the loss and destruction of several lives.
The program is free and paid for with money from Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
