Transition to EVs could save $72B in health costs: American Lung Association

A widespread transition to electric vehicles (EVs) could help avoid more than $72 billion in public health costs nationally in 2050 due to emission reductions, according to a new report from the American Lung Association (ALA).

The "Road to Clean Air" report found that emission reductions from EVs could prevent more than 93,000 asthma attacks, 6,300 premature deaths and 416,000 lost workdays in 2050. The report also found that a transition to 100% EV use would avoid climate impacts worth $113 billion in 2050 while providing economic impacts around green job creation and innovation.

Five of the largest U.S. cities, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Dallas, would see the top benefits from this transition, according to the report, while 18 states would gain at least $1 billion each in public health benefits.

UNLV Center for Business & Economic Research Quarterly Survey

The Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is conducting its quarterly survey on business conditions in southern Nevada.  We are seeking your thoughts about the first quarter of 2021.

It will take about five minutes to complete.  The summary results of the survey will be used by CBER to develop a Southern Nevada Business Confidence Index for the southern Nevada community.

Rural Relief Small Business Grant Period Opening December 29, 2020

As part of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation,  continuing commitment to elevate their impact in rural America, LISC is inviting small business owners in rural locations across the country to apply for the LISC-Lowe's Rural Relief Small Business Grants program. 

LISC will support small businesses and enterprises affected by COVID-19 across the country, especially those in underserved communities, including entrepreneurs of color, women- and veteran-owned businesses that often lack access to flexible, affordable capital.

Applications will be reviewed based on criteria designed to prioritize particularly challenged businesses, and the final grantees will be randomly selected from the top scoring applicants.

Nevada Restaurant Grant Fair 12/16-12/17

The Nevada Restaurant Association is hosting a Restaurant Grant Fair on Wednesday 12/16 and Thursday 12/17 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to call ahead and reserve a time or can come into the office and put their names on a list. 

The restaurant grants included are from Clark County, North Las Vegas, and the restaurant specific PETS grant from the US Treasury. 

The grant fair will be located at 2320 Paseo Del Prado, BLDG B, Ste 103, Las Vegas, NV 89102. Masks are required and please follow social distancing guidelines.
