A great big shout-out to the couple that managed to get up at 6:00 a.m. every other day for three+ months straight to keep the flower baskets alive and blooming: John & Carol Kolb And thank you to the following folks who took time out of their schedules to haul all 69 flower baskets back to Standish last month:
Alex & Alida Westerberg John Kolb Matthew Haesche & Cheryl Kolb
Jake Hatzell*
* Fun fact: Jake's mom, Julie, was the person who started this whole project some 10+/15? years ago. It all started with a dozen inexpensive plastic baskets, a wagon, a garden hose, and a couple of volunteers. Now the project entails a watering trailer, a paid employee, multiple volunteers, the generosity of Jamie at Wild Hare Signs, the magnanimous use of the watering trailer by Kevin Davis, and a whopping 69 baskets scattered throughout Quincy.
Thank YOU to Julie Hatzell! |

We still have a few spots left to fill for our Mugshot Mondays!
Simply send us a photo of you (you can include your team, coworkers, friends, family, pets, whomever) at your business with a mug of your choice. What is your favorite thing about living in Plumas County? Tell us a brief story, your favorite joke (keep it clean!), or a motto you live by. Make it fun and make it interesting!
Want to participate but need help? Give us a call at (530) 394-0541 or email us at info@quincychamber.com and we'd be happy to take the photo for you or share some other ideas! |

Words & Music Next Thursday |
|
|
Levi has been playing music since he was 15 years old. He's been playing acoustic music ever since on the guitar.
"I make music to heal my soul and to express myself completely. My music creates a flow of mindfulness. To be in the present and be conscious of now."
Levi is a multi faceted artist. He will bring his "Guitar ii" or his guitar of imaginary illusions with him to W&M. Plumas Arts is pleased to have him, you don't want to miss seeing him perform. |

Food Security and Emergency Preparedness |
|
|
|
Introducing the Lost Sierra Food Project mobile refrigeration unit! The Lost Sierra Food Project realized the need for more cold storage when the farm became an emergency food hub during the devastating Dixie Fire.
This June we made our dream a reality with a generous grant from the North Valley Community Foundation The "walk-in" was used all season on the farm to store food for Plumas Unified School orders, Tuesday Farm Stands, and hundreds of pounds of donated produce for local food banks. And the cool thing about it (pun intended!) is that this fridge is on wheels so we can take it where fresh food is needed most during an emergency.
This is just one small step toward increased food security and emergency preparedness but we wanted to share. |
