The Photographs of Luke Hoffman, University Student, which will be on display at the Old Depot Museum through August 2024. |
Photos from the exhibit: "Luke Hoffman airbrushing 1915 annual" In this photo, Luke Hoffman is airbrushing the background framing for yearbook portraits that appeared in the 1915 Ottawan annual.
"No Trespassing": Many of Luke Hoffman's photos feature Ottawa University students exploring and playing along the Missouri Pacific Railroad Tracks between the (now gone) Seventh Street Bridge and Rock Creek.
"Building the Gym 1914" Ottawa University's gymnasium was destroyed by fire in the 1890s. Students petitioned for a new gymnasium for several years. After the class of 1913 gifted $2.012.36 to OU for the new gymnasium, the Board of Trustees moved forward with plans for a $30,000 building. This photo, taken April 21, 1914, shows OU students digging the foundation for the new gym with picks and shovels. The new gymnasium opened in 1915. |
