Plumas County at Visit California Media Tour |
|
|
The Feather River Tourism Association participated in the Visit California Meet the Media event this past Thursday attended by 39 other counties and over 75 travel related media outlets, freelancers and influencers.
“This is the first year Plumas County has participated. We have been implementing a very strategic advertising and public relations campaign and felt now, with the momentum we have created, it was time for us to take the next step to maximize the investment, time and effort into the last two years’ campaigns,” says Sharon Roberts, owner of St. Bernard Lodge and marketing committee chair.
Press kits, postcards representing Plumas Counties four seasons and Plumas Knots, donated by Carey’s Candies, were given to the media who were both impressed with what the county offers as well as the delicious candy. The most asked question was, “Where is Plumas County?” and though this may seem disheartening, after the PR pitch, the response was, “I never knew. This is great and gives me something new to write about.” Second most frequent response? “There is actually a place that still has wide open spaces, no traffic and you can see the stars?”
“Our hope is that we get some stories and even better some of the media reps will visit so we can show what the county has to offer to a wide range of guests,” adds Sharon. The marketing committee is confident that by Plumas County being at the event that it will build on the visibility and recognition Plumas County has been receiving from both the marketing and social media campaign. www.plumascounty.org

In 2000, the Quincy Natural Foods Co-op formed a small exploratory committee with the mission of bringing a local farmers market to Quincy. The Quincy Farmers Market was established thanks to our leaders’ collective passion for making local food more accessible for consumers and more merchantable for local farmers. The market was located on the corner of Harbison and Grover Alley.
Quincy Natural Foods Co-op, now known as Feather River Food Co-op, was proud to host the farmers market for 19 years, until it was disbanded in 2019. Since then, there have been a number of other markets that have come and gone. Read more...

I’m back in The West End Theatre, helping with set pieces for the Feather River College production of Fiddler on the Roof. Last night’s challenge was to match the patina of the vintage wagon wheels on fresh pine. Photo credit for the “before” photo to Matt, a cast member who helped Jeff, the director, build the wagon. |

First High Sierra Music Festival Playshop Announced |
|
|
Announcing the first of the 2024 Artist Playshops!
From iconic generational folk-anthems, New Orleans and gospel infused rhythm and blues, to pioneering world music crossover albums, there hasn’t been much musical territory Paul Simon has left untapped in his six + decade spanning career. His lasting musical contributions to the Great American Songbook are undeniable and continue to this day. This year, some of High Sierra’s veteran musicians have taken it upon themselves to celebrate Simon and offer up a sliver of his catalog so we can all dance and sing along as we bounce into Graceland.
With musical director Ezra Lipp (ALO, Magic In The Other) at the helm, this playshop will include a crack team of beloved HSMF All-Stars including Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz (ALO), Reed Mathis (Billy & The Kids, Electric Beethoven), Murph (New Monsoon), Jordan Feinstein (Mars Hotel), and Gary Kehoe (Sambada), with special appearances by Steve Poltz, Holly Bowling, Anna Moss (Handmade Moments), Cris Jacobs, all the members of ALO, and more!
