Special thanks to the Middlebrook Mercantile for being our April coffee sponsor!

Membership Lunch (April 18)
Chamber members received an exclusive tour of Norwalk Central led by Mike Mahoney and Casey Scheidel for April's membership lunch. Members enjoyed lunch from the Mullets food truck and were given a sneak peek tour of the new City State Bank Norwalk Fieldhouse.

We love seeing so many NACC members invest in this project and for anyone interested in pursuing a sponsorship somewhere on the campus, please contact Ryan Patrick with Sportsman Solutions. He can be contacted via email at ryan@sportsmansponsorships.com or by phone at (707) 498-0658 (call or text). The campus is expected to host 1.2 MILLION visitors in 2024, that's a lot of  exposure for our local businesses!

BOOK OF THE MONTH

We've teamed up with Jean Strable, Director of the Norwalk Easter Public Library, to bring you a featured book each month. Recommended books center on business topics, and this month  Jean has chosen Poverty, by America by Matthew Desmond.

Jean says

This month's reading recommendation comes with a bonus book discussion and film screening event.  "Poverty, by America" written by Matthew Desmond, delves into how America is the richest country on earth, yet has more poverty than any other advanced democracy. The information helps us to understand the cycle of poverty and how many of our policies, procedures, communication methods, hours of services, etc., affect those who struggle to make ends meet.

This book will be the featured title at the "Get Lit" Book Club discussion at Norwalk Easter Public Library on Tuesday, May 21, from 6:30-8 p.m.  Following the discussion, guests from the area non-profit agency UpLift will discuss their current project in the central Iowa area.  There will be an exclusive screening of the documentary, "Raising the Floor," which was filmed in Chelsea, Massachusetts, in 2020.  It is a moving narrative of Latinx community members coming together to feed neighbors and strangers during an unprecedented health crisis.

Several copies of the book are available at the library.  The ebook and e-audiobook are also available using the free Libby app and your library card.

Whether you have time to read the book or not, please join other community members to find out how to work together to provide solutions which will improve the economy, help fill job openings, and support fellow community members in need.
