BOOKS OF THE MONTH

We've teamed up with Jean Strable, Director of the Norwalk Easter Public Library, to bring you a featured book each month.

Professional Book of the Month

"The Courage to Be Disliked: the Japanese Phenomenon That Shows You How to Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness" by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga

Are you a people pleaser? That is great, but it can be to your professional and personal detriment. This book is a series of conversations between a philosopher and a young man, who realizes that each of us is in control of our life’s direction. We can shake free from our past burdens and others' expectations to thrive by making decisions...but they might not always please others.  The writing puts the writings of psychologist Alfred Adler into a unique, story-like format.

This book is available at the library.  The e-audiobook is also available using the free Libby app and your library card.

Ryan Stradal* on Tuesday, July 16 from  6:30-8:30 pm at Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company, 309 Court Ave., Des Moines.  Readers are welcome to discuss the book, plus a brew presentation provided by CABCo.
