City Color: A Solo Exhibition by Vincent Giarrano
Opening Reception: Friday, May 2, 5–8 pm | Meet the Artist
On view through May 31

Step into the vivid world of City Color, Vincent Giarrano’s electrifying new solo exhibition, on view this May. Known for his masterful sense of atmosphere and narrative, Giarrano captures the energy and nuance of urban life with remarkable immediacy and depth.

Whether it’s a sunlit New York streetscape buzzing with movement or a quiet moment of reflection featuring a self-possessed woman in her daily rhythm, each painting tells a story—contemporary yet timeless. With striking color, light, and a cinematic sense of place, Giarrano invites you into scenes that feel at once intimate and alive.

His work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC (part of the Smithsonian) and in London’s National Portrait Gallery—and now you can experience his latest collection right here.

Collector Sharon Jarboe puts it best:
"To step inside a Giarrano painting is to unlock your own experiences and memories of the city."

Don’t miss the chance to meet Vincent Giarrano in person at the opening reception on Friday, May 2, from 5–8 pm. The exhibition runs through May 31. New works will be added weekly, so check back often for the latest additions to this must-see show.

“Into the Light,” an exhibit from collaborating artists, Deb Paulson, and Jean Golicz combines the arts of painting and poetry, opens in Mercy by the Sea’s Mary C. Daly RSM Art Gallery on Friday, May 16, and runs through Saturday, June 28.

“Into the Light” is an interdisciplinary exhibit combining the three spiritual practices of Lectio (the poetry) and Visio (the paintings). The third spiritual practice, Terra Divina, comes when guests are encouraged to spend time walking the grounds, beach or seven-circuit labyrinth at Mercy by the Sea after viewing the exhibit. “Getting outside and into nature is our salvation,” Paulson says. From a sailor’s viewpoint, Paulson says time at sea gives an even deeper perception. “When you're outside of land, it's a perfect circle--there's the horizon, the sea and the sky. It opens you up.”

David Dunlop, Quest for Radiance
Susan Powell Fine Art, Madison, CT

June 6 - July 6, 2025

What does it feel like when sunlight stretches across a marsh? How does color shimmer on the surface of drifting leaves? How do the lights of a city merge into a glowing symphony? Can a painting convey the luminance changes we experience in nature?

“Radiance—revealing it, reveling in it, exploring it—that is my quest.” David Dunlop’s solo show, Quest for Radiance, is a dynamic exploration of light, movement, and perception. Dunlop layers semi-transparent pigments on reflective surfaces to create a spectrum of effects that evoke the way we visually immerse ourselves in nature.

Come experience the show in person as David’s paintings come alive before the viewer’s eyes. Blending realism with abstraction, and drawing from science, art history, and plein air observation, he paints the experience of light in motion—sunlight, reflections, shifting skies, and glowing cityscapes. Depending on the light and when you view them, the paintings invite contemplation and can reveal something different each time.

There will be an opening reception on June 6, from 5-8 pm. Join us for hors d'oeuvres and wine and meet the artist.

The Gallery is located at 679 Boston Post Road, Madison, CT. The show continues through July 6, 2025. Hours are Tues-Sat 11-5 and any day by appointment. For more information please call 203 318-0616, email susanpowellfineart@gmail.com or visit our website at www.susanpowellfineart.com
