Do your kids have queer and trans friends that need help feeling affirmed and safe at school? Are you part of a school PTO? Join Gender Inclusive Schools and Welcoming Schools for our “LGBTQ+ Family Allyship Workshop”. This 90-minute interactive training will provide examples of ways to teach your kids about S.O.G.I.E (sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression) organizing family diversity events, advocating for LGBTQ-inclusive policies and training for school staff, and concrete language your family can use to interrupt bias-based behaviors in community settings. Every participant will leave with a wealth of resources to share with the members of their school community. Tuesday, March 22 6:30-8:00 PM Speaker Bio: Dave Edwards, PhD (ABD), MAT, has served as a teacher, administrator, and a full-time faculty at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and Hamline University. As the founder of Gender Inclusive Schools, and a Welcoming Schools national facilitator, Dave provides whole-staff training and consultation to wide-ranging audiences across the United States and Canada. Dave serves on the board of the Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition and is heavily involved with Transforming Families MN. As a parent advocate, Dave has been quoted in national publications such as the New York Times, NBC News, and Rolling Stone.
