3/18/2023 | Historian and Museum Curator Nick Sacco will discuss the creation of a new exhibit about the history of slavery in St. Louis that is now on display at Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site. He will explain the purpose of creating this exhibit and highlight some of the stories about this often-neglected history. Schools can receive bus transportation funds for students to participate in free interactive tours of the exhibit and Nick will provide information on this program. Reservations are recommended. Within a few years Keckley was employed by President Lincoln's wife as her seamstress but also became her close confidante. Living history performer Kathryn Harris uses Keckley's autobiography to present a first-person interpretation.
