Every year in March, we celebrate National Women’s History Month. This year, we are celebrating our Pueblo women as we recognize their leadership, strength, and courage. On March 8 from 11 AM – 2 PM, we will be highlighting women artisans and dancers with dance performances and guest speakers.

Join us for the opening of the Artists Circle Gallery’s newest exhibit, “Sage Mountainflower: House of Fashion,” on view from March 15 through July 13, 2025. This exhibit will showcase the artist’s contemporary clothing designs inspired by visual patterns and textures of her home and her experiences in the fashion world from the Pueblos to Paris. Mountainflower (Ohkay Owingeh/Taos Pueblo/Diné) brings together layered narratives of community and cultural landscapes in her wearable art forms that share stories of the land with audiences. Adult nights at Explora happen every every other month where 18+ can come in and enjoy the museum without kids. Each adult night has a theme to it and this upcoming one is all about thinking small. Join IPCC Librarian Ruth Thomas for a discussion of the book “Rose B. Simpson: Strata” (2024) by Nadiah Rivera. Published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name currently on view at the Cleveland Museum of Art, “Strata” celebrates the work of the Santa Clara mixed-media artist with beautiful full spreads of her installations and works along with critical essays such as “Daughter, Mother, Pueblo Woman, Indigenous Woman: Rose B. Simpson in Four Artworks” by Anya Montiel (Tohono O’odham descent). Join us this Women’s History Month for a discussion of art, identity, and community.

The book is available to be read during the library’s open hours of 9AM to 4PM (Tuesday-Saturday) and can be purchased from the publisher or other online vendors.

The Board by Board fundraiser event on Saturday, March 29th from 5-7pm at Albuquerque Museum supports the GiveABQ furniture bank and its mission to help people with housing stability by providing the necessary and often missing furniture to make housing a home.  

This exclusive event brings the community together for charcuterie, cocktails, an artisan board contest and auction, fun activities and programming, and will make a difference for housing stability in Albuquerque.
