11/6/2022 | On November 6, Chamber member Susan Skinner shares the spotlight with clarinet professional Del Gomes at Sacramento's newest musical venue, Twin Lotus Thai Restaurant. The jazzaurant is owned by nationally-famed Carmichael pianist Joe Gilman. We all remember the sweet sounds of Benny Goodman as he embroidered wistful melodies over the velvet tones of his big bands and small groups. Tunes like "Avalon," "Stompin' at the Savoy," "After You're Gone," and "Let's Dance" still hover in our memories as the soundtrack of the Swing era. Join lyrical clarinetist Del Gomes as he glides his way through these melodies from American Music's Golden Era. Featuring the always entertaining Susan Skinner on vocals. There is no cover charge for music, and the meals are delightful. Susan would love you to come. more info... |

11/12/2022 | Fall Nature & Forest Therapy Walks With Jane McCluskey The forest provides more than we typically perceive. Have you caught yourself “day dreaming” as you look out a window? Caught yourself laughing with baby animal videos? Forest therapy walks are not nature hikes, and not meditation retreats. Drawing from old traditions and relatively new findings, nature and forest therapy walks are brief immersions into something you create with Nature. What will we be doing? Forest therapy walks are slow journeys through an area populated by natural life. We cannot tell you what you will experience; we can only tell you what we will be doing. In these guided visits, we sometimes walk, sometimes we touch the earth, sometimes we sit, and sometimes we do something different. What it it not: These walks are not hikes whereby you will get some exercise. It is not teaching about the fauna we are meeting. It is not meditation. However, it can be all those things if you choose. We hope you will be open to something different. About the guide: Jane McCluskey is a certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide. Her background includes training in facilitation and mediation, as well as a master’s degree in conflict analysis and resolution, and is certified in classical feng shui. She has traveled to many places around the world, and seems to have always found herself in a forest. Growing up with naturalist parents and plant friends, she is at home among all beings outdoors. She looks forward to guiding people to a place they may want to return. Each session offers a different experience depending on the session and the group. Sign up for one walk or multiple! Ages 12 and up.
