Join us in a discussion with Linda Betsinger McCann about Prisoners of War in Iowa, in which she has a book of the same title.

Iowa had about 25,000 German, Italian, and Japanese prisoners of war from 1942 to 1946. Algona and Clarinda were the main camps with each housing about 3,000 POWs. There were 19 branch camps around the state where the prisoners worked for farmers, in canning factories, and doing whatever they were hired to do. Linda spoke with people who knew or worked with the prisoners and shared their memories.

Scratch Cupcakes will also be selling their cupcakes from 10AM-1PM!

GLUTEN FREE dessert slices are for preorder only. The flavors include Naked Vanilla, Cherry Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Zucchini, Lemon Poppyseed, Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Orange Cranberry, and Pumpkin. NOTE we do not make these at Scratch! We partner with Outrageous Baking to bring your truly gluten-free goodies! Please note, these dessert bread slices…they are not cupcakes and are not frosted.

VEGAN CUPCAKES are for preorder only as well and also have 2 options for you to choose from. Choose from a 6-pack of the flavor of the day or an assorted 6-pack. Cash, debit, and credit are accepted. No checks. Cupcakes $3 each, drunken cupcakes $3.50 each, GF slices $3.25 each, cookies $18/6-pack and vegan cupcakes are $21/6-pack!

You can see our entire Curbside season online at https://www.scratchcupcakery.com/events-calendar! All event hours are listed as they're confirmed, but CURBSIDE DOES SELL OUT EARLY from time to time...we'll update the event post just as soon as we know! Remember Curbside does not bake/decorate cupcakes on board...we sell out of flavors often and will pull those tags down as they sell out! Walk-up customers are not limited to the number of cupcakes they may purchase, so ordering ahead is encouraged!
