11/24/2024 | The October 7 attacks and ongoing war is profoundly affecting children in Israel. Many have lost their loved ones and homes, live in an area under constant bombardments or were evacuated from the Gaza envelope or North Israel. These children have experienced a collective trauma—the kind that is difficult to put into words. In response to this crisis and as an act of resilience through action, teachers, parents and art therapists engaged children with the expressive tool of art. The exhibition showcasing their artwork—on display at the J now through Nov. 24—reflects their different worlds, experiences and voices. On canvas, the young Israeli artists express their fears, identities and hopes through colors, form and subjects of choice; inviting you engage with their stories. Co-presented with Jewish Family Service of Seattle, the curated artwork comes from across Israel—from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Ashkelon to the evacuated Galilee and affected kibbutzim such as Kfar Azza. more info... |
