Celebrando 50— Forging Our Future! Honoring our History Centro de Información of Elgin will be throwing a black-tie-optional fiesta celebration for their much anticipated, not to be missed, and first in-person Gala celebration in 3 years. Celebrando 50—Forging Our Future! Honoring our History will be hosted at the Q Center in St. Charles on October 1, 2022. This charity fundraiser is honoring the 50-year history of Centro with a bigger than ever celebration and event. Since 1972, Centro de Información has truly become the center of information for the Hispanic and immigrant community in the Elgin Area and beyond. In 2019 their dedicated staff served more than 13,000 clients from 29 communities (most of whom made less than $15,000 annually) and Centro has been identified as a first stop in the journey to American citizenship. Centro is pleased to offer immigration services, parenting classes, emergency food pantry, employment services and much more. Every week they have hosted educational seminars with experts on everything from nutrition to taxes to finances to learning the English language, and they regularly coordinate job fairs and health screenings at their locations in Elgin, Hanover Park, and Carpentersville. Local citizens will come together at this amazing event to celebrate the richness that comes from diversity, and the beauty found in a united community. The Centro gala committee is planning a delicious fiesta-themed four course meal, outstanding entertainment, and exciting live and silent auctions. With help from hundreds of guests, sponsors, and donors, they hope to raise funds to sustain the vital services of Centro de Información. Celebrando 50 will run from 6pm to 11 pm. The Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin is honored to be the main Event Sponsor and supports the great work of Centro de Información. The 2022 Honorary Chair for the evening is the newly retired Executive Director of Centro, Jaime Garcia. The Masters of Ceremonies, Rick Jakle, Yaneth Medina and Sergio Rodriguez look forward to honoring his years of dedicated service during the dinner event. Board Chair Sergio Rodriguez excitedly stated, “We hope you can join us in celebrating Centro de Información’s 50th Anniversary as we look to Forging our Future and Honoring our History!
