Albright is the current President of the International Wizard of Oz Club, a native Kansan and a lifelong Oz fan. She's attended Oz events around the country regularly since 1974.Her extensive Oz collection ranges from antiquarian books, original artwork, and ephemera, to children's playthings, posters, and housewares. In addition to writing and speaking frequently about Oz, Jane has loaned Oz material to dozens of public exhibitions. Albright will be at Ottawa Library Thursday, Feb. 9th at 6:30 pm. But what you may not know is the fascinating story behind L. Frank Baum's classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This talk explores the unique appeal of this first truly American fairy tale, and its legacy on our culture from speech, to music, to media. This presentation pulls back the curtain on Baum's crowning achievement. We have a limited number of complimentary original Wonderful Wizard of Oz books by L. Frank Baum at the library.
