2/9/2023 | Let's discuss the O-Town Reads book, Finding Dorothy, with special guest, Jane Albright. Albright is the current President of the International Wizard of Oz Club, a native Kansan and a lifelong Oz fan. She's attended Oz events around the country regularly since 1974. Her extensive Oz collection ranges from antiquarian books, original artwork, and ephemera, to children's playthings, posters, and housewares. In addition to writing and speaking frequently about Oz, Jane has loaned Oz material to dozens of public exhibitions. Albright will be at Ottawa Library Thursday, Feb. 9th at 6:30 pm. 2/16/2023 | Ottawa Library is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Letts, author of Finding Dorothy, will be at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium on Feb. 16th at 6:30 pm. Visit with the author, hear what inspired her to research and write her historical fiction novel. Finding Dorothy was chosen as Ottawa Library's 8th community read title. But what you may not know is the fascinating story behind L. Frank Baum's classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This talk explores the unique appeal of this first truly American fairy tale, and its legacy on our culture from speech, to music, to media. This presentation pulls back the curtain on Baum's crowning achievement. We have a limited number of complimentary original Wonderful Wizard of Oz books by L. Frank Baum at the library.
