Simple chorizo sandwiches, basque beans, basque salads with plenty of deserts will be served for $15 a plate. Wines and spirits will flow freely as everyone catches up on each other's lives and share stories from years past.
Games and relays will be played so you can engage in friendly competitions while onlookers partake in lively conversations and laughter. Live music will fill the air to entertain the crowd with traditional Basque tunes. Basque dancers will perform traditional dances between 6:00 and 6:30.
The Basque family picnic is not just about enjoying good food and company; it's also an opportunity to pass down cultural traditions from one generation to the next. Elders share folklore, language, and customs with younger family members, ensuring that these rich traditions continue to thrive for years to come.
As the festivities, families will reluctantly pack up their belongings but leave with hearts full of joy and memories that will last a lifetime. The Basque family picnic is more than just an annual gathering – it's a celebration of love, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Basque people.

Join us for an unforgettable tour into the heart of the Phoenix Mine. Located south of Battle Mountain, this tour open to the public, ages 8and older, offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the most significant gold mines in the region.
Be sure to dress appropriately in long-sleeved shirts, long pants and sturdy closed-toe shoes, for your safety and protection. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our knowledgeable and experienced guides who will lead you through mining operations, showcasing the impressive engineering and equipment of the mine. Learn about the challenges faced by miners as they extract precious metals from deep within the earth.
As you tour the mine, you will witness firsthand the tools and equipment used by miners, gaining a deeper understanding of their daily lives and work conditions. The tour also includes a visit to the mine's processing facilities, where you can see how raw ore is transformed into valuable metals.
Throughout the tour, our guides will share information, providing insight into its impact on local communities and economies. You will also have ample opportunities to ask questions and interact with our friendly staff.

Nevada Gold Mines is proud to sponsor a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. The event will take place on August 22nd at the Civic Center from 1:00 to 6:00, and we invite all members of the community to participate in this life-saving opportunity.
Donating blood is a simple yet impactful way to give back to those in need. Every donation has the potential to save up to three lives, making a significant difference in the lives of patients facing medical emergencies.
In addition to the satisfaction of knowing you are helping others, all donors, upon registering for the rewards program, points will be given per donation and donor will be enrolled into various drawings as a token of our appreciation for their generosity.
We encourage everyone who is eligible to donate blood and join us in making a positive impact on our community. Together, we can make a difference and help ensure that hospitals have an adequate supply of blood for those in need.
