The 2023 Welcome to Medicare Workshop is designed to empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible individuals in Northern California.

Passages – HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program) provides support for those turning 65, or younger adults who will be entitled to Medicare due to a disability. Beneficiaries have several choices around when and how to enroll. Oftentimes understanding the different parts of Medicare, when to enroll, and which type of care is not covered by Medicare can seem complicated. In this Workshop, we provide a decision support path that guides those aging into Medicare with understanding the options available to them, and where to get help with their decision-making.

Workshop Topics:

  • Medicare Part A, B, and Part D
  • Medicare Advantage - Part C
  • Medigaps - Supplemental Insurance Plans
  • Programs to reduce Medicare costs
  • Avoiding Medicare insurance fraud/scams

For questions or assistance with registration, please contact Victoria Brennan, Community Relations Coordinator at 530-898-6715.

Passages, a service of Chico State Enterprises, supports the lives of adults in the communities it serves. For more information about Passages services go to www.passagescenter.org.

Accurate bookkeeping is critical for successfully managing your business; therefore, taking the time to understand how to correctly use your accounting program is key for your business financial success.  This 2-hour workshop is for individuals who have already set up their QuickBooks Desktop system, have been working with the system for 6 months or more, and need help with ensuring that they are using the system correctly (i.e., performing the necessary reconciliations, matching and categorization properly). We will cover reconciling your bank and credit card accounts to your ledgers, problems with categorizations vs. matching vs. rules, understanding reporting and problem solving the data, cleaning up Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable anomalies and cleaning up Balance Sheet misallocations.  There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
