On Monday, November 21 the City will be holding a one-year remembrance ceremony for the Christmas Parade Tragedy.
The ceremony will be held at the Les Paul Performance Center in Cutler Park beginning at 4:39 p.m. We hope you will join us to honor the lives we lost, support those who are still suffering, and come together as a community.
The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Shawn Reilly, Fire Chief Steve Howard, and Police Chief Dan Thompson. Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, the Mayor will be “turning the City blue” and asking everyone to again light their homes or businesses in blue lights as a show of unity and support for all the victims of last year’s tragedy.
At the ceremony, there will be limited quantities of free blue light bulbs available for those needing one. Healing Hearts of Southeast Wisconsin will also be on hand with staff and trained volunteers for anyone needing someone to talk to.
The City will be live-streaming the event on the City’s Facebook page (@CityofWaukesha) for those who are unable to attend the ceremony in person.
