Join this week-long camp (for students who will have completed 4th or 5th grades in June) for an action-packed, experiential, STEM-based program that introduces you to the basics of starting a business and becoming your own boss. Along with field trips and face-to-face meetings with area business owners, you will develop a business plan, create marketing materials, and pitch your ideas in a ‘Shark Tank’-style presentation at the end of the week - all with the help of business professionals. Before you know it, you’ll have the confidence and skills needed to start that babysitting, lawn-mowing or pet-sitting service you’ve been thinking about! Would you like to improve your balance? Do you want to feel more comfortable participating in your favorite activities? Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A) is offering A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls, an award- winning workshop designed to increase the activity levels of older adults with concerns about falling. During 8 two-hour sessions, participants learn to:
- Promote exercise to increase strength and balance
- Set realistic goals for increasing activity
- Improve the environment to reduce fall risk factors
- View falls and fear of falling as controllable
The Centers for Disease Control report that falling is the most common cause of injury in people over 60. More than one-third of adults aged 65 years and older fall each year. Don't become a statistic! Take active steps to reduce the risk of falls; register today for A Matter of Balance. Classes will be held at the Cresco Public Library (320 N. Elm Street, Cresco, IA 52136) from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Monday and Thursday from May 15 through June 12. No class will be held on Memorial Day, May 26.
Preregistration is required by contacting Jordyn Moore, Cresco Librarian, at 563-547-2540 by May 8. A minimum of 8 participants is required. Each participant will receive a detailed training manual. Program costs are covered by the Cresco Public Library.

Thursday, June 5th the Cresco Speedway will feature racing at the Howard County Fairgrounds.
Classes for Non-Fair Race events include USRA Stock Car, USRA B-Modified, USRA Hobby Stock, USRA Tuner and NEIRS Winged Sprint Cars. National points for the USRA classes.
Grandstand admission $5; Pit pass $30. Hot laps at 7:00 p.m.
Also on the docket for racing is Friday, Aug 1st (Cresco Speedway Races) and Sunday, Sept 14th (AutoCross Races starting at 1pm).
