Seventy fraternity men have embarked on a remarkable cross-country cycling adventure to raise awareness and funds for people
with disabilities. The Journey of Hope, a flagship event of The Ability Experience, spans over 4,000 miles across the United States, with two teams starting from Seattle
and San Francisco and converging at our nation’s capital in Washington, D.C. The Journey of Hope involves participants from Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity who cycle an
average of 75 miles per day. This annual summer event is not only a physical challenge but also a mission to spread the message of inclusion and support for the disability community. Each team member commits to raising a minimum of $6,500, contributing to the overall goal of raising $500,000 to support the organization's broader mission of enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.Throughout their journey, cyclists engage in "friendship visits," interacting with individuals with disabilities at various partner organizations. These visits include activities such as dances, games, and advocacy events, providing cyclists and the disability community with enriching, memorable experiences.
On June 9, the Journey of Hope North route will be joining UCP of Sacramento and Meristem for a dinner and community event to celebrate friendship. The joint event
will take place on the beautiful campus of Meristem in Fair Oaks at 5:00-8:00pm.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to celebrate the start of summer and learn about upcoming events hosted by the FORPD. We can't wait to see you there!

Splash Pad - Cool off as the ground nozzles spray water upwards, or rotate the frog to shoot water outwards, but beware, you may get drenched if you are standing under the towering dump bucket!  The splash pad will be open for use from the first Friday of May through the first week of October each year, from dawn to dusk.

Monday, July 21, 2025 - Thursday, July 24, 2025

Go on an epic hunt for hidden keys for your chance to unlock a prize! The Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District (FORPD) will hide over four hundred (400) keys throughout all FORPD parks (please note that Village and Plaza parks will not be included due to ongoing construction). Three lucky keys will unlock a prize. Search often as keys will not be hidden all at once but over time.

Where & When to Find Keys

All keys (attached to a small laminated business card) will be hidden throughout Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District Parks (please note that Village and Plaza parks will not be included due to ongoing construction) beginning July 21-24. For a list of parks click here. Keys will not be hidden in the lawn or areas that may get mowed. Example areas you may find keys: walk paths, gates, benches, signs, etc. Search often as keys will be hidden sporadically across the parks at different times.

How To Turn In Your Keys

Bring your key(s) and see if you've won, on Thursday, July 24 between the times of 6p-7p in Village Park. Please, no more than 10 keys per person/family. Sorry, this will be the only date/time to test your key, if you are unable to attend yourself, we suggest asking a friend.
