The Irwindale Chamber of Commerce invites you to our Legislative Luncheon with California State Senator Susan Rubio. This is the second of four events in our 2022 Legislative Luncheon series.
Held quarterly, the Irwindale Chamber spotlights a public official from the City, County, State, or Federal level who will provide an update to attendees on key issues of the day and allow for conversation between Chamber Members and our local public officials.
Our second talk will feature California State Senator Susan Rubio (D-22) who will be providing a legislative update on her work in the 48th District. Q&A will follow.
About California State Senator Susan Rubio:
Senator Susan Rubio was elected to the California Legislature in 2018, representing Senate District 22. She is the first Latina Chair of the Senate Insurance Committee and is on the Senate leadership team. She is Committee Member of Energy, Utilities, Communications; Health; Transportation; Governmental Organization; and Joint Committee on Rules. She was co-chair of the Senate Wildfires and Climate Change Resiliency Group and a member of the Senate Housing Group, convened to develop legislation to address the housing shortage in California. In addition, Senator Rubio is the first Chair of the Select Committee on Domestic Violence.
Previously, she was a public school teacher for 17 years in Baldwin Park and Monrovia school districts and was an elected official for 13 years in the City of Baldwin Park. She was born in Juarez, Mexico, and is the proud daughter of a former bracero worker and housekeeper.
Senate District 22 is comprised of the cities of Alhambra, Arcadia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina, El Monte, Industry, Irwindale, La Puente, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Rosemead, South El Monte, Temple City and West Covina as well as the unincorporated communities of Avocado Heights, Charter Oak, Citrus, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Mayflower Village, North El Monte, South Monrovia Island, South San Gabriel, South San Jose Hills, Valinda, Vincent and West Puente Valley.

California Assembly Bill 1221, 'The Responsible Beverage Service Training Act', will mandate that every alcohol server and their managers be trained in Responsible Beverage Service and certified by ABC within 60 days.
Effective July 1, 2022, AB 1221 will impact employees at over 56,000 businesses in California that are licensed by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). This includes businesses such as restaurants, bars, wineries, breweries, and any business that sells alcohol for consumption on the premises.
