This is a popular, weekly event at Good Luck Cellars (GLC) and one you must enjoy if you’re in the area. We make fresh sangria each week, featuring a GLC wine. We make a different recipe each week -- sometimes it’s white, and sometimes it’s red. During the colder months, we make a warm, seasonal version that’ll warm the soul :0)

When it’s gone…it’s gone…until the next Sunday, of course, when we make a new batch. Come Sip and Sangria with us.

IMPORTANT NOTE: SANGRIA IS NOT SERVED ON DURING THE CORKS & OYSTERS EVENTS IN APRIL & NOVEMBER.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side with this monthly series of true nature walks. In September, we will search for fall butterflies and discover the geology at Belle Isle State Park! Local volunteer naturalists will share a variety of natural history topics, point out aspects of the park's many habitats (ideal for plant and animal life viewing), and provide participants with nature-photography tips should they need assistance. The walk will be conducted at a leisurely pace to allow stops along the way to observe and discuss seasonal aspects of what is happening at the park. Be sure to dress for the weather, wear closed toe shoes appropriate for walking, and bring a water bottle. For more information or to find out where to meet for this month's hike, call the park at 804-462-5030. Pre-registration is required.

Join Library of Virginia historian Gregg Kimball for this special presentation on Virginia Roots Music. Hundreds of Virginians from all walks of life recorded for folklorists and commercial companies in the early twentieth century. These traditional musicians laid the groundwork for some of the most important genres of American music including Country, Blues, and Gospel. This multi-media presentation explores these musicians and their songs through rare photographs, period recordings, and live performance. Kimball will be joined by vocalist Cluny Brown and guitarist Michael Lawrence in a tribute to Virginia’s seminal recording artists such as the legendary Carter Family, Galax’s original “Hill Billies," and Tappahannock’s William Moore. Also included will be several Chesapeake-themed songs of land and sea. Don’t miss this unique evening of history, storytelling, and music in the inaugural John H. Hunt II Chesapeake History Forum. The event includes a light supper and libations in the courtyard. Purchase tickets here: Virginia Roots Music
