The RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock opens its newest exhibits on Wednesday, March 1st. They are entitled "Weather or Not," a celebration of Mother Nature in storm or calm, cloud or sun; along with "Down Memory Lane," images from our past in oil, acrylic, photography and fabric. This is an opportunity to celebrate all forms of weather – or not. In other words, submit works that depict the stormy, blustery, and rainy or the calm, sunny, softer side of Mother Nature. But if weather is not in your wheel-house, show us something else altogether.
Exhibit Dates: March 1 through April 1

Come and be sew-cial and meet other quilters and sewers in the community. Community Sew-cials are held at Irvington Baptist Church parish hall. Hours are 10:00 am-4:00 pm and you can stay for all or part of the time. The church will provide tables, chairs, and electricity. Bring all the supplies you need for the day as well as lunch, beverages, and snacks. Or, head across the street to The Local or The Office Bistro and grab something to eat and drink.
Proceeds from your reservation fee of $10 will be donated to the church for the use of their facilities.
Need sewing supplies? Stop by Sewlovelee (4504 Irvington Road), right down the road from the church.

The Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show is an unique art festival showcasing wildfowl art.Original paintings, prints, carvings of life-size and miniature birds of all kinds, decoys for display or hunting, antique decoys, exquisite bronze sculptures, photography, taxidermy, and handcrafted jewelry are all available to purchase or enjoy viewing.
Exhibitors come from Pennsylvania to Florida and most exhibitors return each year. New exhibitors are selected who enhance the show’s reputation of having a high quality art show. Many visitors are amazed that a rural fire department hosts such a first-rate art exhibition.
Located in the small town of White Stone, which is on the Rappahannock River, near the Chesapeake Bay, the Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show has become a popular destination for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts & The Lancaster Players are collaborating to provide an exciting performing arts experience for the community! Faced with the temporary loss of our music venue due to renovations at the Lancaster Middle School, we have partnered with the Players, who have offered up their playhouse for an afternoon with The Taters, a Richmond-based band known nationally for their infectious melodies and high-energy songwriting.Doors open at 2:00 pm, show time is 2:30. The Playhouse offers bistro-style seating, with table seating for 4 or 8. Tickets are $25 and there will be a cash bar.

Northumberland Public Library Books Alive!

Friday March 24, 2023 5-7 PM
“All three of us are ardent believers in leaving a legacy in written words. Each of us was changed because of relatives who wrote letters and because family members saved them,” says Gail Kenna. The featured authors to the first Books Alive event for 2023 will discuss their books, which take a reader through historical periods: 1849-50, 1903-04, and post-World War 2 Germany. The three writers will reveal how inheriting the letters changed their lives in meaningful ways. Light appetizers and wine will be served.

NORTHERN NECK ORCHESTRA WILL PERFORM SYMPHONIESBY FLORENCE PRICE AND LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN ON MARCH 25
Grammy Award-winner Michael Repper will conduct the Northern Neck Orchestra in a performance of pioneering symphonies by Florence Price and Ludwig van Beethoven on March 25 at the Northumberland High School Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.
The program includes Price’s landmark Symphony No. 1 and Beethoven’s enduring Symphony No. 5. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be preceded by a pre-concert talk by Repper at 6:45 p.m.
Tickets for the concert are $40.00 and may be purchased at the door or online. Students are admitted free.
