Terry Burke Presents “Why America is Losing the ‘War on Drugs’”
Sundays at Two sponsored by the Lancaster Community Library resumes on February 2 with Terry Burke, former Acting Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Drawing on 30 years of experience in the trenches and as agency head working with the Justice Department, Congress, White House and the media, Burke will share his unique perspective on “Why America is Losing ‘The War on Drugs’.”
Mr. Burke served on domestic and overseas undercover assignments with the DEA and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), following his early career with the U.S. Marine Corps. During his decade with the CIA, he conducted covert paramilitary operations in Laos and was awarded the CIA’s Intelligence Star of Valor for his participation in rescues of downed military and civilian pilots in Laos. As Country Attaché in Kabul, Afghanistan, with responsibility for Pakistan and India, he was the first U.S. federal drug enforcement agent to operate undercover there and the first to be invited to Moscow by the Soviet Government. He is the author of two books about his daring work in Laos for CIA and in Afghanistan for DEA.
Burke spent the first decade following his retirement as Director for International Operations for a private investigative firm. He then directed his own company, T.M. Burke International, LLC, specializing in a broad span of criminal and civil cases throughout the world, including assisting the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshalls Service locating assets and fugitives and reporting on Russian organized crime activity.
A true renaissance man, Burke is a masterful woodworker making custom designed furniture. He built the door for the Colorado Mountain History Center. He also was a member of the Alpine Rescue Team, a volunteer mountain search and rescue team in the Colorado Rockies. Mr. Burke participated in well over 400 missions to locate and rescue fallen climbers, avalanche victims, and lost and injured persons.
Mr. Burke and his wife, Irene, have been married 65 years, have two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. They currently reside in Irvington where he continues wood working.
Single tickets available after August 1st - $45, $50 at the door.

This is a popular, weekly event at Good Luck Cellars (GLC) and one you must enjoy if you’re in the area.
We make fresh sangria each week, featuring a GLC wine. We make a different recipe each week -- sometimes it’s made with white, sometimes it’s rose, or red. During the colder months, we make a warm, seasonal version that’ll warm the soul :0)
When it’s gone…it’s gone…until the next Sunday, of course, when we make a new batch. Come Sip and Sangria with us.
IMPORTANT NOTE: SANGRIA IS NOT SERVED ON DURING BIG EVENTS: THE OYSTER CRAWL EVENTS IN APRIL & NOVEMBER as well as the POUR YOUR HEART OUT event in JULY.
Line Dancing, Circle Dancing, and Hip Hop Dancing will be taught on select Fridays from 4-5 PM.
A different dance move will be taught at each session by local instructor Joy Hendershot. Then you’re encouraged to stay for Friday Wine Down to show off your new moves with the regular Friday dancers. Wine Down Friday is hosted year round, includes live music/dancing 5:30-7:30, and there’s usually a food truck on site 5:00-7:00.
No dance partner is needed to participate.
There’s no fee or sign up required (tips for the instructor are appreciated).
Check back often for new class dates.
