Come join Apex Paranormal for the first ever public ghost hunt events at the amazing Kansas State Pen. We'll start the night with a brief tour and ghost hunting 101 then it's lights out as we look for the spirits still lurking throughout the buildings. This event will be led by real paranormal investigators who will also share their experiences hunting for ghosts inside the building.

The coolest thing ever is to see students learn concepts and then turn them into projects, or potential career options, real-life stuff. LHS has another amazing teacher, Mr. Mesler, who, through his Creative Writing class, led students to churn out completed, published, hardback books! These books are called Novellas - they are short novels or long short stories. And, now, about 65 of his students are published authors this spring!

The LV Education Foundation funded this project through its Innovative Teacher Grant program - and, now we want to share this amazingness with the community. Please join us for "Novellas in the Garden!"
Hosted at The Suburban, on Sunday, April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, enjoy brunch, books, and brainpower - all by our LHS students!

The goal of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber's Military Affairs Council (MAC) is to advance the pro-business climate in the area through military affairs initiatives, and to maintain and enhance the business community's relationship with Fort Leavenworth.

The Military Affairs Council works to grow and sustain not only Fort Leavenworth, but other Department of Defense operations in the area.  The MAC functions as a liaison between the local military and business communities, implementing programs which provide greater interaction between Chamber members and DOD/military personnel.  The MAC hosts various events throughout the year that help to further our community relationships and honor military service.

MAC Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

Military Affairs Council Meetings are open only to members of the Chamber of Commerce (or representatives thereof) as well as any members of military leadership.

Thursday, May 8, 2025

You are invited to a Distinguished Speaker Series dinner event on May 8, 2025, at the Riverfront Community Center in downtown Leavenworth, Kansas (123 S. Esplanade St.). A reception begins at 5:30 p.m., the buffet dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

In 1973, the United States and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam signed “The Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam.” All U.S. forces departed South Vietnam by the end of March per the peace agreement. Almost immediately after the cease-fire went into effect, the fighting broke out anew into what was essentially a third Indochina War. The South Vietnamese forces fought on alone and acquitted themselves very well until mid-1974. By that time, however, the North Vietnamese forces had fully reconstituted in the South and subsequently launched a new round of offensives. The weakened South Vietnamese forces were unable to turn back the onslaught. On April 30, 1975, after 55 days of bitter fighting, North Vietnamese forces captured Saigon and the Republic of Vietnam ceased to exist. In this presentation of the Distinguished Speaker Series, Dr. James H. Willbanks will examine the events of 1974-75 that led to Hanoi’s ultimate victory.

Tickets are $35/person in advance or $40/person at the door.
