The Shore Line Trolley Museum and the Shoreline Greenway Trail announce a summer series of talks and walks along the historic Connecticut Trolley system as it winds along sections of the Shoreline Greenway Trail.
This series will consist of a speaker from the Shore Line Trolley Museum visiting Shoreline Greenway Trail sections and speaking to the history of the system in that area while leading a walk along the Trail.
Expect to hear about the once popular, multi-section Trolley system that serviced Shoreline communities in the early 1900’s.
At the same time, you’ll enjoy a walk along sections of the Shoreline Greenway Trail. Most sections that will be accessed are wooded and about 1-2 miles in length with relatively level, multi-purpose trails.

The Madison Historical Society will host “An Evening in White,” a fundraiser to support educational programming, on Saturday, September 9 at 5:30 PM. The MHS is bringing back this popular event after a hiatus of six years and a global pandemic. This promises to be a magical evening in a special setting that remains a secret until the afternoon of the event.
The premise of “An Evening in White” is simple: the table settings, chairs, tablecloths, and decorations are white, and guests are asked to wear white attire. Guests arrive with their own picnic dinners at a secret location disclosed on the morning of the event. A festive atmosphere, live music, and white wine are all provided by the Madison Historical Society.
In 2017, the MHS hosted an Evening in White at the LeSage property on Copse Road as part of its centennial celebration. More than 120 people enjoyed an elegant dining experience with friends and family on the grounds of this historic property, with white lights and live music enhancing the beauty of the setting.
Madison Lyric Stage began its journey with an evening saluting the work of Stephen Sondheim and over the years has brought the Shoreline audience several salutes to famous composers from the world of musical theater.
At last, we present Climb Every Mountain: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, perhaps the greatest musical theater team to write for the stage!
This salute will include selections from Oklahoma, Carousel, The King and I, South Pacific, Cinderella, State Fair, and The Sound of Music.
Admission is $5. Dealer space is still available for $60 ($70 after 9/8/23)

This first History Happy Hour of the season will feature former Yale University Art Gallery conservator Carol Snow in a presentation that will highlight one of the most interesting artifacts in the MHS collection: a telegram originally believed to have been signed by Abraham Lincoln—and recently found to be a forgery. Why would someone fabricate this document? This mystery is an interesting detective story that our expert speaker will explore.
The MHS is delighted to partner with the Wine Thief of Madison, which provides adult and alcohol-free libations for this popular series. All adults 21 and older are invited to meet fellow history buffs and to discover intriguing history tidbits while enjoying refreshments and a chance to socialize in an intimate historic setting.
