MHS CELEBRATES CT OPEN HOUSE DAY JUNE 8
The Madison Historical Society invites everyone to visit its Allis-Bushnell House Museum, at 853 Boston Post Road, on Saturday, June 8, from 11 am to 3 pm, as part of Connecticut Open House Day, an annual event held on the second Saturday of June. This statewide effort offers free admission on this special day, inspiring Connecticut residents to learn about the many museums, historical sites, and cultural institutions within easy reach of home.
The MHS will celebrate with the opening of its exhibit on Madison’s role in shipbuilding and shipping from 1740 to 1891. The exhibit, entitled “Wharves, Workers, and the Age of Sail,” is in the annex of the Allis-Bushnell House Museum. In addition to touring the exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the exhibits on the first floor of the Allis-Bushnell House. Docent-led and self-guided tours are offered, or visitors may enjoy the home’s historic ambiance and discover its many artifacts at their leisure. Light refreshments will be served.
After Open House Day, the maritime exhibit and the house museum will continue to be open to the public, free of charge, every first and third Saturday of each month, beginning on June 15, from 11am to 1pm.
This project was made possible in part through Museum Makeover, a program of Conservation ConneCTion and the Connecticut League of History Organizations.

When Suzi's youngest daughter Julia was born with special needs, the direction of their lives suddenly changed drastically. The challenges seemed enormous and the future was unknown.
Suzi didn't realize at the time that because of her daughter's journey (and hers), there would be so many amazing people and experiences that never would have happened in their lives if Julia had been born "typical".
Join us as Suzi shares about the unexpected and uninvited blessings that have been a part of their lives. Julia's challenges sent them on a journey of love, learning, and beauty in ways they never imagined.
