We’re hosting an Americana cookout on July 5th overlooking Madison’s Independence Day fireworks display!
- Seating on our lawn – 1st come, 1st seated – will not open until after 5 p.m.
- A cookout featuring summertime favorites and our Beach Bar – 5:30 – 7 p.m.
- Live music with Annalyse & Ryan until fireworks.
- Fireworks to begin in the 9 p.m. hour.
- The event free and open to the community and hotel guests.
- This event will take place on the hotel’s lawn and beach.
The Grassy Strip Music Series at Madison Beach Hotel returns for the 2024 summer season with free, live outdoor shows beginning Thursday, June 27 and runs each Thursday for nine weeks – with the exception of Thursday, July 4.
“This summer’s line-up is incredible,” said General Manager John Mathers. “The weekly summer experience at Madison Beach Hotel has truly become a time-honored tradition on the shores of Long Island Sound.” This year’s series opens with the legendary Beehive Queen, Christine Ohlman.
Free and open to the public, The Grassy Strip Concerts are 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and begin with The Pledge of Allegiance. Summertime food and beverages will be available for sale.
The Mitchells moved to Madison in 1980 and became active members of the community. They were members of the Madison Country Club and the Winter Club. Jim served as a past Chairman of the Madison Police Commission, as well as Treasurer of Madison’s Concord Meadows Interfaith Residential Community. He also served on the boards of several banks and manufacturing companies. After retirement, he volunteered as an advisor to manufacturing companies in Bulgaria and Slovakia for the Retired Executive Service Corps, assisting companies transitioning from Communist to Capitalistic market economies.
In addition to being a wife, mother, and grandmother, Marianne was a secretary, Sunday school teacher, guitar teacher, Sweet Adeline singer, choir member, and volunteer. After Marianne passed away in June 2022, Jim moved to MA to be closer to his son and family. Jim followed her in death in June 2023.
All are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service for Jim and Marianne at The Lutheran Church of Madison on Saturday, July 13, at 11 a.m.

This group will meet every two months, where we will talk about our last read and get the title of the next book. ‘The Bookshelf’ is open to the public (membership with the Madison Chamber is not required).

The Mad Barn Mini's Theater Workshop is full of Acting, Singing, Dancing, and Having Fun! Kids 4-8 years old will learn the basics of theater and by the end of the week, they'll confidently perform scenes from various family favorite movies and shows.
The Madison Historical Society’s History Book Group will meet on Tuesday, July 23, at 6 pm at Lee’s Academy, 14 Meetinghouse Lane, on the Madison Green. This month’s book is The Korean War by Bruce Cummings. The meetings are hosted by MHS member Mary Berlin, and the public is welcome to participate.
