If you love tradition, then you will love our 89th annual Sausage and Sauerkraut Community Dinner. Come join the 89 years of handmade sausage, sauerkraut, and applesauce made solely by hundreds of community volunteers and generations of families that have been in Verboort for over 150 years. Come sit down with folks that have attended over 50 consecutive dinners. See the Giant Sequoia Redwood trees brought to Verboort as seeds from Giant Sequoias in California upon Mr. Porter’s return from the gold Rush of 1849 and planted in 1888. Come be a part of our tradition and our community Saturday, November 2nd, 2024.

While some things have certainly changed from its humble beginnings in 1934 when just 198 lbs of sausage were served to 150 diners. We now serve about 14 - 16 tons of sausage and nearly 8,000 dinners. Stroll around the grounds and beneath the Giant Sequoia Redwood trees. While all proceeds stay inside the parish, a portion of the proceeds from our dinner provide a subsidy for the Visitation Parish children who attend Visitation Catholic School.

U.S. EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant Application for Glencoe Opportunity Area, North Plains, OR

The City of North Plains intends to apply to a Brownfield Cleanup Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to support redevelopment of the Glencoe Opportunity Area. Attendees will learn about plans, have the opportunity to ask questions, and leave comments on the plans.

The North Plains Urban Renewal Agency, in collaboration with Columbia-Pacific Economic Development District and Stantec, is applying for U.S. EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant to address contaminated soils on the Glean Opportunity Area property. The Glencoe Opportunity Area is situated on Glencoe Road less than a half mile north of Highway 26, just south of West Union Road. The site was purchased in 2021 and the city is working under a development agreement with real estate developer Rembold to bring to life a grocery-anchored mixed-use services center. WEST TUALITY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
HABITAT UNIVERSITY
everything drywall
Drywall, wallboard, plasterboard--what is it?

Want a taste of what volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity construction site is like?

Are you nervous about working with hand and power tools?

Want to get to know some of the Habitat staff and lead volunteers you would work with if you volunteer on a construction site?

Want to learn skills that not only can help Habitat families, but can also help you around your own home?

This event will help you understand the basics of drywall, wallboard and plasterboard, how to cut it properly, attach it, tape it and mud it and make minor repairs - and if any of those terms are new to you, then you are a PERFECT candidate for attending this workshop!

Our Habitat University events are aimed at people who want to help Habitat with home construction and home repair but aren't already knowledgeable about the skills and tools needed, and aimed at eliminating the ‘intimidation factor’ surrounding construction skills and home improvement. This event also will give you an idea of the welcoming, supportive atmosphere of Habitat construction and repair events, and how we welcome ALL people to support this work. You will also learn more about the mission of Habitat for Humanity and why we focus on helping people access affordable housing.

The event will take place in our covered construction workshop area behind the ReStore, 3731 Pacific Ave
Forest Grove, Oregon.

Registration required and space is limited!
