Just in time for Mother's Day!! Tickets are $20 each and available at Westendtheatre.us/tickets/

Doors open at 6:30. For mature audiences.

THE STORY: When entrusting the subject of motherhood to such a dazzling collection of celebrated American writers, what results is a joyous, moving, hilarious, and altogether thrilling theatrical event. Utterly unpredictable, MOTHERHOOD OUT LOUD shatters traditional notions about parenthood, unveils its inherent comedy and celebrates the deeply personal truths that span and unite generations.

"MOTHERHOOD OUT LOUD…never fails to strike both the funny bone and the heart. Anyone who is or has a mother, a stepmother, a foster mother, or anything in between will be able to relate to and enjoy this insightful piece…the collection is impeccably cohesive…What makes the piece work so well is that its portrait of motherhood shows all facets of a family. From adoption to surrogacy to gay parenting to stepmothers, no stone is left unturned…Put aside any preconceived notions about the topic...the play will grab you, as a mother in any form has a long-lasting effect whether you like it or not.” —BackStage.

Choosing how and when to get Medicare is an important but difficult decision.

The 2022 Welcome to Medicare Workshop is designed to empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible individuals in a safe, virtual environment.

PASSAGES – HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program) is announcing the 2022 Welcome to Medicare Webinar series for those turning 65, or younger adults who will be entitled to Medicare due to a disability. Beneficiaries have several choices around when and how to enroll. Oftentimes understanding the different parts of Medicare, when to enroll, and which type of care is not covered by Medicare can seem complicated.

In this Workshop, we provide a decision support path that guides those aging into Medicare with understanding the options available to them, and where to get help with their decision-making.

Due to the Public Health Emergency, workshops will be conducted online via ZOOM. There will be no in-person presentations at this time.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND. A lot is going on this weekend for veterans and their families. First, the flags will be flying in recognition of Memorial Day. Quincy Girl Scout Troop 244 is volunteering to place American flags on veteran graves at two of the Quincy graveyards. The large American flags will be installed at the Cemetery Hill cemetery by Quincy VFW Post 3825 Additionally, previously mentioned on May 28th the Quincy VFW Post 3825 is hosting the public a lunch/dinner in celebration of their 80th Anniversary. That event will be held at the Quincy Veterans Hall, 2745 Lawrence Street starting at noon and running to 6 PM. Pulled pork sandwiches, salads, soft drinks/water, and cake are on the menu. Stop by, eat, say hello, and compliment the Post for being a part of the community for 80 years and running.

On May 30th there will be a ceremony at Dame Shirley Plaza to observe the Memorial Day holiday honoring the men and women who died while serving in the US military. This is the 15th year the event has been hosted by local attorney Robert Zernich. The event is scheduled to start at 10 AM with seating for 30-40 so if you want to sit down get there early. After the event Plumas County Veteran Services is providing a free lunch to veterans and their families. Stop by the Veteran Services table and say hello. The office is asking all to focus on the veteran suicide problem and help an impacted veteran to connect to the wide-ranging services for those in need.
