The Creative Corps is in part modeled on the most successful components of the Federal Art Programs of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) which launched on the heels of the Great Depression a hundred-odd years ago.
Join us alongside David Kipen, former Chair of Literature at the National Endowment for the Arts and an authority on the WPA in California, as we explore what it means for artists to get behind and create awareness for public health, environmental issues, climate mitigation, and emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery, civic engagement and social justice.
We'll be looking at some of California's most exciting projects from the WPA, and brainstorming the sorts of projects that artists might consider in CURRENT contexts.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Avatar takes us to a world beyond imagination, where a newcomer from Earth embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. James Cameron, the Oscar®-winning director of Titanic, delivers an immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where revolutionary technology disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.
