About the Lost and Found

Hosted in the wide-open and high North Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Lost and Found Gravel Festival is a grand bike ride and festival celebrating mountain life.

The Lost & Found course features a perfect blend of pavement, dirt road, gravel road and historic railroad grade. Racers must choose their bike wisely as you're not in Kansas, this is the high Sierra.

Gravel road in mountains

The longest route is approximately 100 miles with 8,000' of elevation gain and is 80% dirt. Also available are two shorter and still challenging course options; the 60 mile, with 5,000' gain, and the 35 mile, with 4,000' gain.

All routes start in Portola at the City Park and lead into the surrounding mountains hrough some of the most beautiful and vast alpine valleys California has to offer.

Participants can choose to race or simply ride the route and take advantage of the quality aid stations. Racers and riders from around the world will be invited to lose themselves and find this two-wheeled paradise.

Saturday ride and post event fun in Portola with food, beer, live music, and dancing - the way we like to do it! Come join us for a great weekend in the Lost Sierra.

Proceeds from the Lost & Found go right back into the trails through the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

This race supports Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship's Lost Sierra Route, connecting 15 mountain communities to promote economic prosperity through recreation.

By participating and fundraising, you will help a region recover from devastating wildfires and economic hardship through the creation of this 600+ mile multiuse trail.

Plumas Arts is pleased to announce a gallery opening reception next Friday June 2nd from 5pm to 7pm at 525 Main Street in Quincy.

For the month of June, the Plumas Arts Gallery is featuring the work of Lorraine Nielsen.

Following a dream of living in the mountains, cultivating a more intimate relationship with the earth, and pursuing the whole process of the ancient art of spinning, Lorraine and her husband, Gene, brought majestic, heritage Jacob sheep to Indian Valley and began Four Winds Farm in 2006. Her respect for and awe of wool and of the craft of working with it was launched at a spinning class she took while in college at UC Davis in 1975. Now a retired elementary school teacher, Lorraine embraces her fiber art and shepherding as a way of life, a spiritual journey. Her knitted, felted, and woven designs celebrate the vibrancy of traditional arts, the thrill of experimentation, and explore the harmonious interplay of function and beauty with natural fibers.

These sculpted, felted creations are pieces of place, speaking their voices from the land, from respectfully foraged and windfall gifts from the landscape, and expressing images seen or imagined: everyday yet extraordinary moments and introspective visions. This current, eclectic collection includes pieces from the Dixie Fire trauma, images of hope and beauty, and an exploration of the rewilding concept.

Top off a busy Saturday this week with a beautiful concert featuring the Northern Nevada String Ensemble conducted by Jane Brown. The concert is titled "The Dancing Harp" because it features the talent of Marina Rosnitovsky on harp. This will be an exceptional performance and you don't want to miss it. You can attend the County Picnic during the day and listen to an orchestra in the evening. We are SO cultured in Plumas County!

A beloved and best-selling classic comes to the big screen with Lionsgate’s adaptation of Judy Blume’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Starring Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret, this timeless, coming-of-age story has transcended decades and spoken to generations. At 11, Margaret is moving to a new town and beginning to contemplate everything about life, friendship, and adolescence. She relies on her mother (McAdams), who offers loving support but is herself finding her own footing in a new place, and her grandmother Sylvia (Bates), who is coming to terms with finding happiness in the next phase of her life. For all three, questions of identity, one’s place in the world, and what brings meaning to a life will draw them closer together than ever before.

In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

• This 150 Minute SciFI Action Advenure film is Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, strong language, suggestive/drug references and thematic elements.

The National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Firewise USA Program encourages local solutions for safety by
involving homeowners in taking individual responsibility for preparing their homes from the risk of wildfire. Firewise
is a key component of Fire Adapted Communities or a collaborative approach that connects all those who play
