Stigma. Shame. Silence. This immersive play explores the roots of mental health treatment, beginning in the 1400s and taking the audience on a journey of 700 years. How do words like "crazy," "nuts," and "hysterical" work to repress and silence people? And why do they have such power? Meet the doctors who devised treatments for the mentally ill over 700 years, as well as some historical figures who battled with depression and mental illness: Virginia Woolf, Zelda Fitzgerald, Sylvia Plath. Trigger warning: Suicide and mental illness are discussed. A fog machine will be in use briefly. Not for children under 14 years. This play is "boutique theatre" and can only accommodate about 30 audience members at a time. Reservations are strongly encouraged, but remaining tickets will be sold at the door 30 mins. prior to curtain5/18/2023
