Family Promise rescues primarily first time homeless families from the streets and provides emergency shelter and basic needs in a sixty day program designed to assist their return to self-sufficiency. Our shelter includes a sanctuary for the family pet, the first such program in Arizona.

Our goal is to give the family a hands-up and assist them in their return to self sufficiency. Services include case management, counseling, enrichment programs, resources and referrals with the focus on securing employment and next step housing. Our program model is based on a national model that is highly successful, and over 70% of families accepted into the Family Promise program graduate into sustainable housing. Family Promise partners with over 30 interfaith congregations across the Valley to provide safe overnight shelter, food and compassion to families in crisis.

Our objective is to rescue families quickly before the devastating effects of homelessness create a downward spiral of poverty, reliance on shelters, accompanied by developmental, academic and health problems, and ultimately foster care for the children.

There are about 29,000 homeless people in Arizona - one in every 227 Arizonans. And an estimated 61% of them are in Maricopa County. Statewide, approximately 2,500 people are considered unsheltered, living on the streets. Most are single adults, and 79% of them are men.

The number of homeless people in families is on the rise throughout Arizona; many of them are victims of domestic violence. According to DES, 4,346 adults and 4,095 children received help from domestic violence service providers in 2014.

Isn't it time we stop for a moment to think about what we can possibly do to help reduce the Homeless population in our community. With very little time and effort, each and every one of us can make a significant impact in improving the lives of the Homeless. With a little extra effort, we can HELP reduce the number of Homeless in our community.

Improving the quality of education in Arizona will improve the quality of life for all Arizonans!

Created through the collective will of diverse sectors and communities across the state, Education Forward Arizona seeks to change the way people see and support education as the key driver to improving the economy and the quality of life in Arizona.

Arizona can be proud of the Arizona Education Progress Meter - and the community engagement that led to creating statewide metrics and goals for how we measure progress on education outcomes, from early learning to college attainment. But while we've seen incremental progress, we have yet to see the big gains needed to reach the goals by 2030. We will report honestly to the public on the progress - or lack of progress - being made to improve education for all students in Arizona. And we will outline what more needs to be done to get to our commonly agreed-upon measures of education success.

The American's With Disabilities (ADA) definition of "service animal" reads as follows:

A "service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Other species of animals, whether wild or domestic, trained or untrained, are not service animals for the purposes of this definition."

Furthermore, "A service dog must be individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service dogs under the ADA."

There are 3 categories of Assistance Dogs for individuals with disabilities:

-Guide Dogs, also known as Seeing Eye Dogs, are trained to guide a blind or partially blind person around obstacles to get where they need to go.

-Hearing Dogs also known as Signal Dogs are alert to sounds that a deaf or hearing impaired individual cannot hear.

-Service Dogs are dogs who are trained to help people with disabilities other than visual or hearing impairments. Some examples of such needs are mobility, psychiatric, and medical alert for diabetes, seizures or other conditions.

-Facility dogs are trained to provide services to agencies that serve our community, such as child advocacy centers, police departments and legal services.

The Glendale Ambassadors, formerly known as Glendale Civic Pride Ambassadors, has been in existence since 1984. We are a volunteer citizens group to assist the city in increasing people's awareness of the good things Glendale has to offer.

The Glendale Ambassadors are an organization of citizens with a deep sense of pride in their community dedicated to enhancing the economic, social and cultural vitality of Glendale. Money raised through our fundraising efforts is used to support this mission.

The Glendale Ambassadors is a member of the Glendale Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. Both organizations provide ongoing opportunities to stay connected with many of the business owners in Glendale. Additionally, we partner with many local nonprofit groups in fundraising and other community events that benefit Glendale.

Donations made by the Glendale Ambassadors have benefited many Glendale groups and organizations; including the Glendale Police and Fire department, Glendale Parks & Recreation Ranger the Dog program, Glendale Summer Band and youth sports and theater.

Created in 2005, the Martin Auto Museum is the brainchild of owner and founder Mel Martin. Mel saw a need to share a collection of vehicles that represent significant periods in automotive history.
The museum features over 140 vehicles, including classic cars, hot rods, customs, imports, and much more.
It also has one of the largest collections of auto memorabilia, antique gas pumps, and signage anywhere.
Kids can enjoy the carousel, or our variety of driving and racing games.
Our guides and volunteers are experts on every piece in the museum!
As a 501(c)(3), we ask for a $10 donation from our guests. Children under 12 are admitted for free!
We accept cash, credit card, and check!

Treasure House is the vision of Kurt and Brenda Warner, who believe that all people, regardless of ability, have a purpose and call for their life, and are able to participate in meaningful and challenging activities, establish personal relationships, and contribute to society when provided with appropriate supports and opportunities.

The Warners have been inspired and amazed by all that their son Zachary has accomplished in his life, despite the diagnoses and labels given to him. It is their love for Zack that gives them the passion to create an environment that will not only support those with intellectual and developmental disabilities but also will allow them to thrive as they share their gifts with others.

Treasure House is a supportive living community for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), with the first location planned for the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area. A strong emphasis on independence, respect, and community integration will provide an optimal environment for residents to live, work, and enjoy recreational activities while being part of a larger family.

OCJ Kids (Opportunity Community and Justice for Kids), founded in 1992, forming an alliance with the business and faith communities to provide services, resources and caring adults to address the needs of the most vulnerable in our society.

Founders Gary and Tammie Webb's passion was to reach out to the growing population of unsupervised youth aged 12-18 who were gathering after school with nothing productive to occupy their time and who were being tempted by negative influences, including gangs, drugs, and violent behavior.

Gary and Tammie knew these youth were making choices that would impact the rest of their lives and were determined to establish a program to offer positive activities and adult mentors who would not only encourage them to take the "right path," but could show them how through direct assistance and role modeling.

In 1994, OCJ hosted its first on campus after school program, and in 1996 opened its first of nine off campus "Target Zone" community youth centers, one serving as a certified Teen Court with the Arizona juvenile justice department.

In 2006, OCJ started the Fostering Connections Program. The goal of the program is to connect the business and faith communities with children and youth placed into the foster care system, with special emphasis on the children and youth currently living in group congregant care in Arizona and throughout the United States.

Angela Hughey and Sheri Owens co-founded ONE Community in the fall of 2008. The concept of an interactive web and events community came from over a year of research that they compiled on the LGBT community which included the diversity within the community, buying power and how to market to the community.

At ONE Community, we pride ourselves on being cutting edge social entrepreneurs. We are a small business with a big heart.

Mission statement: ONE Community's mission is to create a coalition of socially responsible businesses and individuals who support diversity, inclusion and equality.

Vision statement: ONE Community's vision is to create a coalition of socially responsible businesses and individuals by educating, empowering and connecting. Through our member based coalition, we promote businesses and organizations who support the LGBT community, diversity, inclusion and equality.

What is ONE Community?

ONE Community is an interactive web and events community for LGBT and allied individuals and businesses. Social membership is free, business memberships start at just $30 per month. We offer business to business solutions and business to consumer solutions. Our motto is You Vote with Your Wallet Every Day. We encourage business professionals and consumers to support businesses who support the LGBT community and diversity. Check out our business member directory.

For. By. Committed to the Community.
We are for our diverse community because we offer special member discounts and pricing, ONE Community nights, business forums and an extensive gay, lesbian and allied business directory.
We are by our diverse community, with up to the minute local Phoenix and national news, discussion groups and community blogs. What better way to bring our LGBT and Phoenix communities together than to talk about it, whatever it is!
We are committed to the Community. We support our non-profit community partners through events and engagement.

And we are dedicated to creating a stronger relationship with the allied community. It's a basic math equation, really. Whether we are 6-7% or 10% of the overall population, the one thing we aren't is 51%. It is important as a community that we come together to celebrate our uniqueness, diversity, friendships, and those that support us.
We are, after all ONE big community!

Our community organization was born when one Memphis father was left to raise his two daughters, after their mother passed away. The father had to teach his daughters how to cook, clean, do their hair, sit with their legs crossed... all of the things that a mother should do. Through positivity and perseverance, those girls went on to live a prosperous life, regardless of the deck being stacked against them. Because there was little support for the father and the children in our area, we decided to answer the call to action.

Real F.A.T.H.E.R.S. Inc supports dad's of all nationalities, all over the United States, raising children after the other parent passes.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to live a full life! Some children need specialized equipment and/or therapy to ensure this happens. Unfortunately, needed services and resources are costly, and too often insurance denies coverage. Therefore, Mariah's Miracle was founded! Our mission is to provide grants that cover the cost of pediatric patients' needed therapy and equipment when insurance will not. Our vision is that every Arizona child receives the services and resources critical to living a full life!

The ISEE (Institute for the Support of Educational Excellence) Foundation was first formed in 1983. The foundation's purpose at the time was to promote state education reform and initiatives to affect meaningful change to Arizona K-12 education. In 1997, Glendale Union High School District took over the ISEE foundation and changed its direction from one of Arizona state interests to focus exclusively on GUHSD and its community needs. Recently, the name was updated to the Glendale Union High School District Education Foundation. Glendale Union High School District Education Foundation's mission is to support public education in the Glendale Union High School District by rallying the community to provide additional resources for schools and students and build strong school-community partnerships.

The Glendale Union High School District Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to funding projects that boost student achievement and to provide student scholarships and teacher grants to support the district?s mission.

Just like anyone else, people with Developmental Disabilities seek fulfillment in every day activities. They want to contribute to their communities and live as independently as they can, whether with their families or with friends and housemates of their own choosing.

Since the skills that are needed to achieve these goals are not always learned independently or in school, One Step Beyond has been providing unique services to close this gap for the past 11 years. One Step Beyond starts with the basics and continually reinforces lessons throughout the scope of our many programs. These lessons include but are not limited to:

-Functional literacy in math, writing, and reading
-Household management
-Healthy exercise and diet
-Community service
-Effective social and communication behaviors
-Socialization and meaningful friendships
-Employment development, placement, and support
-Cultural arts opportunities

Helping hands for single moms? mission is assisting low income single mom families as the mother attains a post-secondary education, financial independence, and positive family legacy.

The dream to assist low-income single moms with obtaining a college education was born in a most unusual way. In 2001, Chris Coffman was in his twentieth year of serving as a minister. Mr. Coffman was active in a local ministerial alliance when the group decided to become more engaged in serving the needs of the local community. It was decided that each pastor would be assigned an area to drive and look for potential needs.

It was on a warm spring morning when Mr. Coffman set out with a quick prayer. He hadn't driven far when he was startled by a young boy, approximately 5 years old, walking alone on the sidewalk of a busy street. Mr. Coffman pulled alongside him and told the boy to meet him at the next corner and that the boy could not be out alone. A woman in a passing car also pulled in. Mr. Coffman and the woman, led by the boy, proceeded to walk him home. When they arrived at an old dilapidated house, they knocked and a young girl, perhaps 10 years old, answered. Observing the wide-eyed look on her face, Mr. Coffman asked her if this was her brother. She said yes. A second question followed; Are you supposed to be watching him? Yes. As she opened the door to let her brother in, Mr. Coffman asked, is your mother or father here? She answered, just my mother lives here and she is asleep.

They left the boy in his sister's care and headed back to their vehicles. Suddenly Mr. Coffman remembered the task he was pursuing before he was interrupted. He was looking for needs in the community! Mr. Coffman had no idea where that short drive would take him. The dream of helping low-income single moms attend college was born in the days following that fortuitous journey.

Sounds of Autism was started in 2011 to bring a voice to a silent epidemic called Autism.

Our son Landon was 9 at that time and by then I was super frustrated having to navigate the system and put all the necessary pieces together to raise our child who at that time had been given the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. It should not have been this difficult putting his life's journey together. It should have had a solid foundation for as large as the Autism community was.

I have always been one to seek solutions when I was faced with life's challenges. All we needed was a "one stop shop" offering simple solutions with results that would last a lifetime and within a safe and understanding community.

Our Sounds of Autism team got to work and today our program serves all communities that play a part in making the journey of living a life with Autism a much more successful and sustainable journey.
