Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, located in Irvine, California, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food assistance to those in need within the community. With a mission to provide dignified, equitable, and consistent access to nutritious food, Second Harvest Food Bank works to collect and distribute nutritious food to individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout Orange County.
The food bank partners with a network of over 280 Orange County organizations, including houses of worship, schools, after-school programs, colleges and universities, senior centers, shelters for the unhoused, soup kitchens, traditional housing facilities, and other community-based organizations. They work together to ensure that food reaches those who need it most. Through these partnerships, Second Harvest Food Bank provides over 35 million pounds of food each year to the community.
Approximately 50,000-60,000 pounds of produce is also harvested each week at the 40-acre Harvest Solutions Farm in Irvine, a collaboration with Solutions for Urban Agriculture and the University of California South Coast Research & Extension Center begun in August 2021.
